Meet Lexie MElton of GLAM by Lexie in Litchfield Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexie MElton.

Lexie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Hmmmm where do i start…Life is the weirdest thing I’ve ever experienced. People either know exactly what they want to be, some may think they know what they want to be, and others have no fucking clue and are just hoping for the best. I some how am all three because I am a woman who loves to be complicated like that. Matter of fact I never in a million years thought I’d be paying my bills working in the beauty industry, let alone building my own business…WTF.

Yeah no, I was confident I was going to be the next Britney Spears growing up…I still may switch careers, Not sure.

Back to what I was saying, uhhhh I am the most indecisive person I’ve ever met. Not just with what I want to eat but with pretty much all life decisions. So deciding what I would be doing, potentially for the rest of my life, wasn’t an easy decision.

All I knew for sure is I wanted to be an independent woman who makes lots of money. Ha duhh. So how was i going to do that… wasn’t and still am not entirely sure but i usually always find a way to crush a goal once my mind is set so I guess I’d just figure it out at some point. Haha.

So like many people, i went to college and then to a university just to find out that I fucking suck at school and don’t know what the hell I was doing.

Although i had many other distractions at the time, I still felt like a failure. Out of my short 24 years of life, it was rock bottom for me. That year taught me a lot that’s for sure. I wasn’t ready for any of the shit that hit the fan but “it be like that sometimes”.

So to sum it up real quick, yes I’m a college dropout & now I am my own boss. (LOL-ing at life right now)

I 100% think school is great and takes you many places no doubt, but I’m also a big fan of a humble person who simply just works their fucking ass off degree or no degree…and that’s pretty much what I’ve been doing since I left college.

So in that time period i got my license, got my lash & brow certifications and got jiggy with it.

At first, I told myself this was only temporary until I figured out a career because doing lashes “isn’t a real job”. I couldn’t possibly be successful in life with such a basic job in the beauty industry and no degree. Buuuut pretty soon I went from good, to really good to…I’m booked 4 weeks out would you like me to add you to my waiting list good. (Hair flip) wasn’t very long until I realized I was in a dope position with endless opportunities.

We all know life does not go as planned. It actually goes the complete fucking opposite of whatever it is you’re planning but Just remember, if the plan don’t work, change the plan not the goal.

Also If you got this far and are reading this..wow I love you. Thanks for being interested in my crazy short story! XOXO

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy?

Hell to the no. Nothing in life worth having is easy & this particular job takes a crazy amount of patience.

I remember walking into my lash extension training with full confidence. Ha, How hard could it be, you just glue a lash to the lash right ? no big deal….. yeah that was a rude awakening.

I left my training literally thinking “what in the fuck did I just get myself into?” It was hard. Very hard. It involved so many other things that I never even thought about.

My hands were cramping, my ass was numb and I was positive I left that training with scoliosis….but that’s just part of the job people. Haha I always say lashing ain’t for the weak. Lol TRUST ME!

Anyone who wants to overlook a lash artist and belittle their work, I’m here to remind you any busy, badass reputable lash artist is going to be working at least a 10 hour day & I pretty much can guarantee you wouldn’t last 5 mins. It’s basically eye surgery guys. Haha

Please tell us about business.
Well as you’ve probably gathered I am a lash and brow artist, but I specialize in lashes, volume lashes to be exact.

I love that instant gratification and turning my girls from “Bitch to biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitch.” LOL but in all honestly i love what I do and the relationships I’ve gained from it. I’m blessed!!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Well currently in the process of branding a lash training & eventually maybe a product line down the road or a salon… idk dude there’s so many different possibilities in this business. I’m just gonna do it all. Lol
