Meet Lesley Bodwell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lesley Bodwell.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I have always had a love of creativity, starting with interior design. After I had my son, I started playing around with a “fancy” camera my husband bought for me as a gift. I quickly learned to love action photography, watching my son play sports. As I grew in my love for photography and all things creative, I opened a wedding cake bakery and spent 6 years cultivating my love of baking and cake decorating. I fell in love with the wedding industry and all things wedding, but the calling to return to photography was always with me and finally, I decided to sell the bakery and return to my first love.

Please tell us about your art.
I consider myself a visual storyteller documenting and creative beautiful images of families, mamas to be and weddings with a light, airy and elegant style. I believe photography tells a story and my goal is to capture the story for my clients.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
For me, the biggest challenge is feeling inadequate. With social media, it’s so easy to compare yourself to others and then criticize my work. Everyone is trying to post their perfect work and it’s hard not to get caught up in the comparison game.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I post work on my website and via social media. I provide images to my clients via online galleries. They can hire me!
