Today we’d like to introduce you to Lela Reynolds.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Lela. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Upon completion of my undergraduate degree (B.S in Communications), I began working in the wine industry. I worked in all aspects – from winemaking, tasting room management, tours and hospitality, and distribution. I loved my job, but I (like most of us) started to burn out. I was working 16 hour days more often than I was not, my personal life was suffering, and I was like a candle burning on both ends.
In addition to having a passion for wine, I have shown Arabian horses since the age of 8. I woke up one morning to get ready for work, and the idea to start Arabian Horse Exchange came to me. A sales hub is lacking in the Arabian Horse Industry, and I just jumped into this idea head first. Arabian Horse Exchange has been in business 2 years now, and is the leading sales site for Arabian Horses.
A year into my journey with Arabian Horse Exchange, I decided to start #SocialExchange Marketing – with my training and knowledge in social media marketing, combined with everything I learned from my journey with Arabian Horse Exchange, starting a marketing company just seemed like the next step!
Both of these businesses are thriving, and I am happy to announce a new business that I will launch in February – Cavaliere Couture – specializing in stylish equestrian sport clothing.
I could not be happier being my own boss – I am inspired every day, and reaping the rewards from taking your own risks is the best feeling you could possibly get from a job.
Has it been a smooth road?
Of course, starting a business is never easy, and there are always ups and downs! Of course, it took quite a bit of money to launch Arabian Horse Exchange (the website alone!), and it is a seasonal business – there is no guaranteed income. Of course, there never is when you work for yourself!
A year into Arabian Horse Exchange and #SocialExchange Marketing, it definitely was a struggle to convince clients to use my services. There are similar companies of course and lots of competition within both of my businesses. There were a couple moments (Maybe more than a couple) that I thought about selling my website and going back to a 9-5 job that would guarantee that I would pay my rent every month. I am so thankful that I had the strength to stick with it – and instead of quit, I figured out how to set myself apart.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Arabian Horse Exchange and #SocialExchange Marketing – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Arabian Horse Exchange – Leading Arabian Horse Sales Site. It is an online platform geared towards marketing and sale horses
#SocialExchange Marketing – Social Media, Graphic Design, and Website design company. We specialize in Equine clients, but we do work with a variety of other companies as well.
Cavaliere Couture – Equestrian Sport Clothing brand launching in February 2018.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Scottsdale – of course, the summer is brutal, but… if we lived on the east coast it would be brutal with the opposite weather extreme! I must say the thing I like most about Scottsdale is that there is very little you CAN’T do here! I am in close proximity to everything – a nice restaurant, a beautiful hike, a gorgeous sunset…
My least favorite thing is the summer, but… this too shall pass 😉
