Meet Leiah Scheibel and Alex Bradberry of The Sparkle Bar in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leiah Scheibel and Alex Bradberry.

Leiah and Alex, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The Sparkle Bar was born out of necessity. Alex needed her makeup done for a wedding she was attending. She asked me to do her makeup but I was booked but offered to make her an appointment at a Neimans, Nordstrom or Saks but she wasn’t feeling it – too often, she’d encountered makeup artists who didn’t know how to match her skin, who put on too much makeup or who spent the entire application trying to sell her products. She knew other women must feel similarly, and the seed for The Sparkle Bar was planted.

What we wanted to do, and what sets us apart, is that our kits are all hand-curated for the global woman. Our client is able to come in and have an application based on her lifestyle, skin tone, texture, age and based on how much time she spends in the morning on her makeup and how her makeup looks on a regular basis anyway.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road to opening wasn’t easy – in fact, we even had to pass legislation (SB 1320)to open our business. The bill that was passed essentially delegates Makeup artistry from the board of cosmetology here in AZ– but it’s been worth it, we didn’t have to compromise to ensure our original vision came to fruition and in the end, It helped every single makeup artist here in the state of Arizona.

Basically, we help women (& men) feel like their most confident, empowered and beautiful selves by highlighting their fabulous features using our medium or choice, makeup.

What were you like growing up?
Leiah – I have always been an outgoing and a passionate soul. I would talk to anyone and everyone. Passion has always driven my desire for more, to work harder.

Alex – A go-getter. My parents would say, ambitious. When I️ wanted something I️ would stop at nothing to get It. Not much has changed.
