Meet Leeah Murray of Meraki

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leeah Murray.

Leeah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I taught myself to build websites at 13, by chance because I had stumbled upon Paint Shop Pro and found I had a knack for making graphic art. I discovered if I learned HTML & PHP, I could make better use of the art I was creating. So I dived in, and started studying a site for children wanting to learn HTML (site still exists if you can believe it!! http://lissaexplains.com), as well as I, would view the source code of other websites, and purposely break it to figure out what lines of code did what! When I finished high school, I attempted to attend college but found I wasn’t being challenged enough.

I decided to instead, start cold emailing & calling various local businesses and pitching them on re-designing their sites. Thankfully, a few of them took the bait, and I was off freelancing and building my own business at 19! Safe to say – I learned just about every business lesson you could learn the hard way – the most difficult way possible. I attempted to work within big and small agencies, thinking maybe the answer to why I kept stumbling in business was because I was missing something they had to offer.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case, and I would always lose my passion when the rose-colored glasses came off, and I realized most agencies did not have the client’s best interest at heart and were out to make a profit, versus deliver tangible results. So I went back to stumbling my way through building my own small business. I took a 2-year hiatus from 2015-2017, made a LOT of personal shifts, and finally found my way to creating a business that looks and feels amazing, and that I wake up every day excited to co-create.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has definitely NOT been a smooth road. I have joked many times if there was such a title as, “The most taken advantage and naive woman in business,” I would likely be in the running for that crown! In 2014 I had quite the awakening, personally and spiritually. It was from there that I started to understand what I was missing that was causing so many troubles on my path.

I realized I had terrible boundaries and low self-worth, so I kept attracting others who were treating me less than I was worthy of. Thanks to the spiritual awakening, I stumbled onto my own healing path. Reiki was a healing modality that helped me make a LOT of shifts in my life that helped me integrate much better personal beliefs, thus, in turn, attracting clients who I resonate with at a much deeper level.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Meraki & Co – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My core business is Meraki & Co, a digital agency where clients can engage with me in two different ways. Either as a typical agency and commission me for design, branding, marketing or web development. Or they can take one of my Signature Journeys to create a Transformative Digital Presence.

These journeys typically dive much deeper than the standard agency process, takes into consideration the “human element” and offers coaching along the way to move them to a more aligned, purposeful digital presence. I would most likely be known for my heart-centered approach to a very non-heart-focused process!

As a Reiki Master and Intuitive, I integrate those talents into the process as well. If someone is really struggling with a part of the process, I may take them through a guided meditation or put them on the Reiki table! I am most proud that I have been able to create purposeful digital presences, designs & marketing for amazing souls, who are doing powerful work.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the diversity of Phoenix culture, as well as being surrounded by the beauty of the Southwest. I love being outdoors and if I am not running off somewhere up north like Sedona or Prescott – I love wandering around the wilderness around the city! I wouldn’t say I like the heat the least, but it has definitely been wearing on me!
