Meet Lee Gerdes of Cereset in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lee Gerdes.

Lee, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
When a 1992 attack by four youths wielding a baseball bat in San Francisco left Lee Gerdes in psychological trauma, he decided eight years later to hack his own brain.

The assault led to brain injury, insomnia, mood swings, anxiety and life-changing psychological discomfort. But, after all medical and behavioral treatments failed to provide relief, Gerdes, a mathematician and physicist, turned to engineering.

In 2000, using a rudimentary EEG on his head and driving it with an old PC, Gerdes made a discovery – during his most intense periods of anguish, his brain’s left and right hemispherical activity was way off-balance.

By turning frequencies from his brain into audio tones, then playing the sound rhythms back to himself via earbuds, Gerdes was able to modulate his brain to achieve symmetry – virtually turning it back to the days before his assault.

Gerdes was Vice-President of Solutions at Net Perceptions (Minneapolis, MN), leading the R&D team that created customer predictive analytics software sold to Amazon.

A qualified clinical psychologist and counselor with the problem-solving mind of an engineer, Gerdes is an innovator who is passionate about spreading the life-transforming potential of brain rhythm balance through BrainEcho, the technology he discovered and applies in the Cereset technology.

Gerdes has received an MIT-Sloan Technology Innovator Award and a Department of Defense Medal of Honor for Excellence in Patient Care, recognizing his work helping troubled veterans.

Author of the book “Limitless You: The Infinite Possibilities of a Balanced Brain”, Gerdes has published numerous papers in research publications.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Being innovative and not aligned to standards of care is not without downsides. Regardless of successes – even after 150,000 clients and over 700 clients experience tremendously successful clinical trials – there are many individuals, psychotherapists, and health care providers who still don’t understand how we’ve done it. However, once they see it for themselves, they can’t deny how powerful the technology is.

For the potential client, when they learn that their own brain can reset and heal itself, there is hesitation. The technology sounds miraculous and doesn’t have a “Doctors prescription” which many relate to efficacy – even if traditional medicines haven’t helped their ailments. For the psychotherapists whose practice is based on a great number of appointments with their clients, the idea of 4 1-hour sessions is threatening to their business, as it is for many physicians.

The fact is, however, that if the brain balances, then any prescription which may be needed will simply work as well as it possibly can and certainly much better than if the brain had not be balanced at all.

Tell us about your business/company.
Cereset is a neuro-technology company. Currently we have worked with over 150,000 clients from around the world and have completed clinical trials with over 700 people for Insomnia, PTSD, post-concussion, Hot Flashes for post-menopausal women, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia, and migraines as well as cardio-vascular changes driven by the brain.

What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc.
I’m the Founder/CEO of Cereset and specialize in the algorithms used to drive our AI in applying our BrainEcho technology for clients in real time.

What are you most proud of as a company?
I’m happy that our technology is non-invasive! It simply echoes the brain back to itself so it can see itself and change itself on its own terms.

Another exciting development is that Cereset is currently the recipient of a $2.8M grant from the Department of Defense to be used in a clinical trial for military veterans with mild-traumatic brain injury and associated symptoms at Fort Bragg and USUHS at Walter Reed hospital. I am the Principal investigator of that clinical trial along with doctors from Army Research, USUHS, and Wake Forest Medical School. The trial is half over and shows tremendous promise for a robust intervention.

Pricing:

  • An initial Introductory session provides the client the basic information about their brain rhythms, which is $99
  • Cereset is then purchased as a package of 4 sessions and one follow-up session, the package price is $1300
  • Should a client wish to purchase individual sessions they are $300 each and take approximately 75 to 90 minutes
