Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Albornoz-Sanchez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Leah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Much of my childhood was spent at the doctor’s office or ER. Though unpleasant as it was, I came to appreciate medicine and how it can heal the body. Implementing home remedies from Chile as well as incorporating conventional treatments I was able to understand and appreciate the fine balancing act the body strives to be in.
I came learn how much a doctor can influence the overall health of an individual.
As I continued my undergraduate studies, I hoped that there would be a program that would integrate both traditional and conventional methods. It wasn’t until 2009 that my dream became a reality, when I was accepted into Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine.
I have had the pleasure and blessing of observing the transformation of many individuals through implementing the core philosophy that the body is programmed to heal itself if we only remove any and all obstacles be it emotional, mental, spiritual or physical; and provide the body with the tools it needs to support the healing, be it nutrition, supplementation, exercise, sleep, stress reduction, medications, etc.
My training in nutrition, hydrotherapy, naturopathic manipulative techniques, acupuncture, herbs, homeopathy, mind/body techniques and pharmaceuticals provide many tools in which to address each individual concern and offer personalized treatments to guiding the body to heal itself.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I believe that nothing in life worth doing is smooth sailing. There will always be struggles.
The journey to becoming a doctor is certainly one that has been one of the hardest if not the most difficult experiences I have accomplished. Needless to say, I could not have accomplished this on my own. Thanks to family, friends and my faith in God have helped me through the most trying times.
A few of the struggles I endured included feelings of inadequacy whether I would learn all the material expected in the few hours I had, living on a few hours of sleep; watching friends be weeded out was rough, considering that we were a small class that would spend the next four years together. I would have to say that perhaps the most difficult struggle was remaining sane through it all. Medical school is tough and it really pulls at every string of sustenance, endurance, sanity, mental fitness, belief, courage, among others that mold the individual to becoming the best physician possible.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Natural Healing AZ story. Tell us more about the business.
Natural Healing AZ is a Naturopathic medical clinic that specializes in restoring optimal and quality health. We are known for providing alternatives to symptom suppression, by utilizing tools specific to the individual needs that will enhance overall health and wellbeing.
We take pride in our ability to restore health in those that desire it. Health should not be taken for granted. We all experience dips in our health, some with longer stays than others, but there has to be the desire for something better, something greater. It is with that desire that we can then create the masterpiece of health and wellness, restoring balance while gaining understanding of how to maintain that balance.
Every individual has different needs medically. No two diabetes or hypothyroid cases will require the same treatment plan. They may ultimately have similarities, but we treat the person, not the disease.
As a company, we are very proud of our ability to expand, see a need and fulfill it.
Arizona is one of the states that has a great source of Naturopathic doctors, however, what sets us apart is most likely what sets others apart, how we connect with people. Health is more than just a 5-minute appointment or an antibiotic prescription. Complete health is a process, a journey that requires trust, confidence, knowledge and humility. Every person that walks through our doors is treated as a person, not a number, a disease or statistic, though there is a time and place for numbers. In order to penetrate to the core of any chief complaint, there needs to be trust, acceptance, connection and commitment. We are very committed to the work we do and continually strive for excellence.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t necessarily attribute my life’s events to luck. There are goals, choices I make, guidance I receive, experimentation, analyzation and acceptance of a higher plan than what I can only see or perceive.
I have been fortunate and blessed to have a husband who supports my vision and goals. We work together to accomplish what we are able at the current time, learn from the past and prepare for the future.
Goals are accomplished through often difficult times, one step at a time, never losing sight of what’s most important.
