Meet Layne Salvo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Layne Salvo.

Layne, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I truthfully never considered myself an artist until I started pushing my own limits in October 2018.

I grew up loving makeup and everything about it. My mom loved makeup and playing with every product out there, so I naturally took after her. Throughout high school and college, I often did my friend’s makeup for dances, outings, and weddings for fun because that’s what it always was for me- fun!

In February 2017 I was given a liquid lipstick called LipSense for the first time, and that’s really when everything changed. I fell in love with the product and ended up becoming a SeneGence distributor.

I think Network Marketing gets a bad rap (trust me, I was the #1 network marketing hater before SeneGence) but wow, it has truly changed my life. I dove heavy into learning makeup application and became a certified Makeup Artist, found how much I truly LOVE doing other people’s makeup as well as teaching them the techniques to do it themselves.

I now do makeup for weddings, special events, as well as makeup lessons and special effects makeup. I’ve found a huge passion in this industry, and I’m not going anywhere anytime soon!

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am a makeup artist! Makeup is so fun, and like I said earlier, I am not sure I ever considered it an art (facepalm) until recently when I dove deeper into the industry.

I absolutely love doing my client’s makeup for whatever their need is- everyday, special occasions, bridal, or Halloween! I am a firm believer that beauty comes from within, and makeup is there to accentuate that beauty. I have found so much joy over the last two years learning different skin tones, textures, eye shapes, techniques, etc. so that when my client looks in the mirror after I’ve finished their makeup and they are glowing from the inside out. THAT’S what I love the most.

Backstory: My Mom passed away a few days before I had my son in 2016 and I lost a piece of my heart that day. This makeup journey has filled my heart in more ways than I could have imagined! My makeup comes from the heart, and I hope my clients feel that.

In your view, what is the biggest issue artists have to deal with?
As a makeup artist, I feel our biggest challenge is all of the filters and editing apps that make makeup appear different than it really is. It’s easy to compare your skill to highly edited photos, so I try to keep that in the back of my head when looking for inspiration.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
People can see my work on Instagram @LAYNEBEAUTYCO or on my website ww.LAYNEBEAUTYCO.com. Referrals are amazing too. I think most of us would rather hire someone recommended by a friend or family member they trust vs. searching through google!
