Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Taylor.
Lauren, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My name is Lauren and my sister Carmen and I have created Code Name: Mama as a lifestyle brand to celebrate one of our favorite roles in life. A brand that caters to the lifestyle of motherhood without forgetting we’re you know, still sexy, if not sexier. We both came into motherhood at very different points in our lives and unique ways. So we wanted to make sure to have a company brand that highlighted the vast scope that is motherhood.
The name for the brand came from my oldest son, who just off the cuff said “You know what mom, it’s like you have a code name. Your first name is Lauren but your code name is Mama.” His statement was so profound to me. How true is that? I am and always will be who I am but I also have been given this super special mission of being the mother to three little cherubs. Sometimes as moms we straddle between being this woman who existed before children and now this person who has to be super responsible and keep small humans functioning. So I am still Lauren, but I’m also operating under the name Mama.
Our multi layered brand includes our blog, clothing, and Carmen’s YouTube channel The Kings Court. We desire to reach women who are excited about life as a mom while keeping that spark of femininity alive. We want to develop a community of women who desire to invest in their lives through positive images. What you read, view and purchase are all from our hearts.
Has it been a smooth road?
One of the tougher parts of our business is finding the time to run the business. For a while, I was a working mom and now I stay at home with our children. My sister is a stay at home mother as well, but always has other projects going. Though the occupations may change our children and their needs did not. Being creative with your time in being able to accomplish the goals you have set, has proven to a daily challenge. But a rewarding one none the less.
Tell us more about the business.
We specialize in creating a space for mothers to be proud of their motherhood and femininity. Our multimedia platforms are geared to go beyond the idea of an influencer but to engage and connect mothers with other mothers on a personal level. Also, we sell empowering clothing and accessories that are made to be an effortless addition to a mom’s wardrobe without forgoing style. We also have multi state mom meetups that include playdates or just moms night out, and then, of course, our open forum of online communication. I think what we are most proud of is how we are connecting with our followers and moms around the world! And that we have been able to help mothers we’ve never met by just being a voice to listen or helping them get connected with someone to may be able to assist them close by. For us, the difference in our brand is that we are trying to create something that is ultimately a resource tool across America.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
As we continue to grow we hope to see more product placement in the next few years as well as our resource tools launched across the country. We hope to produce more seminars and webinars that not only connect mothers but also provide guidance on this journey of motherhood. We want to be a staple, an immediate thought for women when they become moms, to know that once they get signed up with Code Name: Mama, they are going to have some great tools at their fingertips to help them out.
