Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Krech.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Lauren. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
Being artistic has always run in my family, so I have never been in short supply of role models.
Specifically, I had my aunties Steph and Rhea Rhea, who always have been amazing hairstylists for me to look up to. I’ve been inspired by hairstyling and the beauty industry for as long as I can remember.
So of course when I heard about the EVIT course for Cosmetology, I leaped at the opportunity. I was licensed by the time I graduated high school and have never looked back. I can truly say that I fall more in love with my career everyday.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been an overall very smooth road in my career. Being lucky enough to have the opportunity to go to beauty school while in high school, I got my license very young. I started my first job as a stylist just before my 18th birthday. I was, and continue to be extremely passionate about gaining knowledge and improving my art. The only downside to starting my career so young was that I wasn’t always taken seriously.
In the beginning, it felt like I was constantly having to go the extra mile to prove myself to clients and to my peers. I grew as a person from these experiences though. They pushed me to work even harder to gain knowledge about my craft and to know and stand by my worth.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am currently a stylist at my dream salon The Waverly Salon in the old town where I try to create a chill, comfy, and sometimes silly atmosphere for my clients. I truly enjoy all aspects of doing hair, but I specialize in hair color. Specifically, I am obsessed with balayage and fashion colors.
I am known to get a little foil happy and for my (lowkey nitpicky) perfectionism with my own work. I can honestly say that I would never allow a client to leave my chair with work then I am not 100% proud of. Making sure clients leave my chair feeling all kinds of foxy is my top priority.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I am located at The Waverly Salon right in the heart of charming Old Town Scottsdale. The location is wonderful and ideal for any stylist trying to build loyal and trendy clientele.
