Meet Lauren Kasle of Scottsdale Dog Walkers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Kasle.

Lauren, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I first started my career in the pet care industry when I was a senior in high school and wanted to make a difference in the lives of pet parents.

I became a professional pet sitter for a local company and quickly learned the in’s-and-out;s of what it takes to be an exceptional dog walker and pet sitter. Throughout college, I continued to care for hundreds of four-legged clients and gain valuable experience in the pet care industry.

During my senior year of college at just 21 years old, I decided to take my expertise in pet care one step further by opening my own dog walking and pet sitting company, Scottsdale Dog Walkers. I am proud to have over five years experience in the pet care industry and be certified in pet first aid & CPR.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As with almost every entrepreneur, it has definitely not been all smooth sailing. In this day and age, almost everybody thinks they can be a pet sitter/dog walker. On-demand dog walking & pet sitting apps have helped contribute to this. In actuality, pet care is a very personal, individualized experience.

A one-size-fits-all model just doesn’t fit when it comes to trusting somebody to not only come into your home but also take care of your fur baby! So I think one of the biggest struggles in our industry is figuring out how to set ourselves apart and then communicate that to our audience.

Please tell us about Scottsdale Dog Walkers.
Scottsdale Dog Walkers is the premier dog walking and pet sitting service servicing in North Scottsdale. We specialize in mid-day dog walks and vacation pet sitting. You might read that and think, “Yeah, you and everybody else!” But, we’ve decided to set ourselves apart from the pack (no pun intended) in a number of ways…

We are one of the only local companies that have chosen to integrate technology with pet care, elevating the industry into the 21st century. Gone are the days of playing phone tag with your pet sitter, calling/texting and wondering if they’ve shown up or not, or giving credit card numbers over the phone.

With our pet sitting software, clients can book online whenever it’s convenient for them, receive updates on their visits from their pet sitters, and overall have peace of mind that they can check “Book The Pet Sitter” off of a never-ending to-do list!

Another way we’ve set ourselves apart is choosing to be part of the movement that doesn’t charge by number of pets, type of pets, breed of pets, size of pets, or time. We believe that love is love, no matter shape or size.

Whether you have a rambunctious puppy that needs an hour of playtime, or a senior dog that just needs a quick potty break, our clients love knowing that we offer one price for full service, every single time. Nobody likes to be nickeled-and-dimed, which is why we’ never upcharge or add hidden fees.

Where do you see your industry going over the next 5-10 years?  Any big shifts, changes, trends, etc?
The pet care industry has changed dramatically over the past 5-10 years. One could even argue that 5-10 years ago, the general population really didn’t even know that pet sitting WAS an industry.

But with the creation of on-demand dog walking and pet sitting apps, they have helped bring huge awareness to our industry. These apps have caused traditional dog walking and pet sitting companies to raise the bar in terms of customer experience, which ultimately is a great thing for pet parents.
