Meet Lauren Cabrera of Conscious Rituals Club in Tucson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Cabrera.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Lauren. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Most of us can pinpoint those catalytic moments in our lives when everything you once knew dissolves and you recognize falsehoods you had taken as fact. My mom died of cancer in September of 2017. As devastating as her death was, from the moment I lost her a metamorphosis began within me that has birthed incredibly positive changes. I left Chicago, where I had spent my entire adult life, for a new home in rural Kentucky. I dedicated most of 2018 to extended solo road trips across the country, focusing on photography, meditation, and self-reflection. I got in touch with the core truths of who I am and what I want out of this life; I was filled with more confidence, purpose, and drive than ever before. My adventures eventually landed me in the Sonoran Desert. I signed my lease in Tucson on the two year anniversary of my mom’s passing.

My mom always said, “everything happens for a reason”. When faced with her passing, something that felt cruel – she was only 55 years old, vibrant, and seemingly healthy up until her diagnosis, I chose to use her words to see through the fog of grief and find the “reason”. I have always had a clear vision of what I want in my life: meaningful work, my own business, a home in a place where the sun shines more days than not, and to freely create art. In the past, however, I had always told myself that “now” just wasn’t the time for x, y, z reasons. Losing my mom showed me that, in fact, “now” is all we have. So, the greatest gift you can give yourself and the world is to act now on what your soul feels called to do.

In the years since I left Chicago, I have been rebuilding my life from the inside out. The single biggest aid to this process has been the cultivation of aligned habits, or what I call “conscious rituals”. Through my research and first-hand experience, I have been shown the transformative power of building self-trust – a primary counterpart to having a healthy ritual practice. I created Conscious Rituals Club as a resource hub & support group to shed light on the immense power we each have to transform our own lives.

Has it been a smooth road?
Life is so rarely a smooth road & I truly find such beauty in that fact. My journey has been no exception. Breaking life-long habitual behaviors and patterns of thinking have a pretty steep learning curve. I have been faced with countless roadblocks of fear and self-doubt on this path. Even the decision to make my business people-focused, rather than a solely artistic venture has taken a huge amount of courage. All of this just illustrates one of the core tenets of Conscious Rituals Club: working hard in service of your dream is an invaluable gift to yourself and the world. Life will always be riddled with challenges, wouldn’t you rather face them knowing that you are acting in authentic alignment with your soul, as opposed to acting out of obligation or fear? Answering this question with a resounding “yes” is a daily practice.

My work requires vulnerability, compassion, and courage. The rewards for cultivating these behaviors outweigh the difficulties tenfold. I also recognize that in putting forth these qualities, I coax them out of those around me. In doing this work, I am building a community-based in authentic human connection and unconditional love for both yourself and others.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Conscious Rituals Club story. Tell us more about the business.
Conscious Rituals Club is a virtual support group for people cultivating more agency over the direction of their lives. I have just launched this new project, registration officially opened on April 20th. Club membership includes access to the Conscious Rituals Clubhouse, entry to our monthly virtual club meetings, and a discount on one-on-one virtual hype-sessions with me. When you sign up for Conscious Rituals Club, you receive our Welcome Workbook. This jam-packed resource has exercises to help you tune into your intuition and chart your path into soul-alignment. New members also receive a free one-on-one virtual hype-session with me to welcome them into the club.

The clubhouse is a private, members-only forum for open discussion, where members can share their knowledge and experiences, ask for guidance, and support one another. The clubhouse is a hub for members to share resources & recommendations covering topics including yoga, astrology, energy work, tarot, relationships, self-love, and so much more. In the clubhouse, I am sharing all that I have learned in my studies and experience with inner work, self-trust, and finding soul alignment.

Our virtual club meetings are once a month and each meeting has a featured topic, such as journaling, meditation, and breathwork. During these monthly meetings, each member declares their intention for the coming month with two statements: one conscious ritual they are integrating into their life and one unconscious ritual they are shedding from their life. These meetings are a safe space for members to share their progress, struggles, and successes. Between monthly meetings, members are responsible for posting brief weekly check-ins to the clubhouse. This practice encourages accountability and helps members keep their ritual goals in their field of awareness.

Online courses covering specific topics, such as “How to Cultivate a New Ritual”, “Letting Rituals Evolve”, and “Identifying & Assessing Unconscious Rituals” will be launching this fall. Courses will be available for purchase à la carte to anyone, with a discounted price for members.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
It is an exciting time to be exploring the self-development space. Recent events have awakened many people to the importance of cultivating healthy and loving relationships with themselves. As we each move through this unprecedented set of global circumstances, there will be more recognition of how we truly want to show up in the world, both individually and as a collective. I see a shift happening in our world towards more awareness of the vast impact we each have as individuals. There is immense beauty in owning your power and shifting it into alignment with your soul.

I hope to see a move towards celebrating real self-care, not just the face masks and bubble baths. There is beginning to be a recognition of just how important the hard work of self-care really is. We need to be willing to face our shadows with compassion, and I see the stigmas around that slowly falling away. We each have shadows to work through; darkness is nothing to be ashamed of or hide. The current circumstances of the world have really illuminated the threads of similarity that flow through our human experience. My hope is that those threads stay visible long after this global crisis ends.
