Meet Lathan Singleton of The Unspoken Hero Society in Central Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lathan Singleton.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Lathan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born with a disease called sickle cell anemia, a blood disease that causes great pain both literally and figuratively. It causes your natural circular red blood cells to transform into a sickle shape causing damage to internal organs and the body as a whole. All my life, I wanted to help people but I had no idea how. At first, I wanted to be a biologist and help the world in that way. As I got older and the trials life brought me got even more difficult and abnormal, I decided to create something that stopped or atleast prevent some of the human suffering we deal with in our lives. Diseases & Ailments can cause great suffering, suffering that at times killed the people around me quicker than the actual disease. If I could find a way to fill the void within there heart by the way of having a community surrounding that person, a community filled with love and overflowing empathy. I could help those people. That goes with poverty as well. Being looked at as sub-human because you live on the street or have less than can cause deep suffering in a human being. If only there was a sanctuary that could not only help them feed their families but also boost there moral by joining a society of people who have felt that same pain and overcome. That is my story and that is my vision for the unspoken Hero Society

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, the very thing I wish to cure in others is something I fight daily. I’m always in the hospital, having an organization comes with its natural set of problems making people believers, becoming consistent and bring in results that are up to par. Getting Tax exempted etc

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My work involves feeding and giving care packages to those who are impoverished. I mentor Sickle Cell Patient’s since I’m a sickle cell patient as well. I’m known for the work I do for the impoverished and my advocacy of sickle cell anemia. As a brand, I’m most proud of the foundation we’ve been able to set at The Unspoken Hero Society and the unique job we have in helping our community. Human suffering is something accepted because its something we all face. But I believe people shouldn’t have to take the full brunt of that suffering if they dont have to if it’s not for them specifically but because of circumstance. To bring someone out the whole, they were forced in or even made for themselves is a duty we all should have. Putting them on a path we could all be proud of as peers is the ultimate blessing and goal.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Empathy is what comes to mind the most. To truly help someone of a different circumstance requires that. Not only help but to befriend and build a connection requires that. We will not win without such quality.
