Today we’d like to introduce you to La’Quesha Klines.
La’Quesha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hello My name is La’Quesha, I am brand owner of Elle’Kay and under that brand I run multiple businesses. This grand idea all started with an inspirational sermon my Pastor preached more than three years ago, encouraging us believers to step out into the entrepreneurial world with God’s blessing. I thought to myself “what am I good at, what do I love doing, what could I form a business off of?” And the thought came! I love to sew and create things with my hands, as well as fashion. So I ran with it, creating custom accessories for other families, such as bow ties, ties, earrings, hair bows and now masks! Today that business, Bows N Ties has touched many homes all over the world, and into the hearts of many Brides and Grooms. We have now set off into the Wedding industry officially! creating custom accessories for the entire bridal party. But Elle’Kay just doesn’t stop there! With COVID taking the world by shock and planting fear in the hearts and homes people all across the world, I created a Christian clothing line called “Marked Saved” the concept was if we can mark ourselves “Safe” from natural disasters, we can surely Mark ourselves “Saved” by the Blood of Jesus. This clothing line creates a sense of security that even in the midst of a pandemic, I will survive, I will not be harmed, in Christ I am safe. But Wait! There’s More! We love our supporters soo much we’ve created a YouTube Channel so you can follow this busy Brand around and see how we accomplish all that we do! From just a thought to a growing successful brand is such a vision we could not have done without God and our Mentors.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Building something you’ve never built before definitely has its challenges and obstacles, but it’s the commitment behind the passion that makes it all worth it. The overall biggest hindrance for me was not adding value to myself or my work, Which led me to become overworked and underpaid, so first I’d encourage you to add value to yourself, you’re worth the shot of success. When you value you, so do others. Another obstacle would be narrowing down my product line and learning that I couldn’t be all things to all people. I was taught to find my niche and run with it, and that’s exactly what I did. The best thing I did for myself was join a Community of Entrepreneurs. I am now a member of the Leadership Uncensored Community and I attend the Leadership Mastermind Conference every chance I get. I learn more and more great strategies about running a successful business without having to go through all the small hiccups that take so much time.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In addition to running the Elle’Kay Brand, I am also a college student at Lifepoint Christian University currently working on my Bachelor’s. Striving to be effective for what God has called me to do, I knew this college would be the right one for me. I’d like to think that I am a pretty hardworking person, for all the areas Of my life that I think could use a touch of professionalism, I’ve obtained a Mentor. I have my Pastors/Mentors who teach me the word of God and Business. I have my vocal coach who teaches me how to sing out loud for the Lord, but my greatest superpower is being a Mommy. This I am most proud of. I believe this sets me apart because society tells you that Moms should give up on their dreams and just take care of their children, but I say No Way! I believe the worst thing you can do is give up, your Children need to see you chase after your dreams and be the best version of you. It will have a long lasting impression on them and give them the push they need to keep going even when adversity comes.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the monsoon season! And I love that StonePoint Community Church is here in Phoenix and is so welcoming and loving. I dislike any store that is not open 24 hours a day. Arizona is a “come out at night when it’s not boiling hot” state, therefore stores should be open late. LOL
