Meet Lakeisha Davis of The World Iz Yourz Catering

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lakeisha Davis.

Lakeisha, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have been cooking pretty much all my life. I was my mother’s best assistant in the kitchen and aimed high at cooking like her! My grandma was also a great cook and I have the warmest memories of her thru food. My Auntie Bessie was the best baker on this planet and could make the most moist delicious cake without reading a recipe.

I was a cook/92G in the US Army and took pride in the knowledge I learned in the kitchen. I attended culinary school in Upstate New York which was the highlight of my culinary education. I decided to create the world iz yourz catering, after being laid off abruptly while working as a sous chef at a college university. After my battle with cancer in 2009, I educated myself more on food, the importance of reading ingredients and later became vegan. The motto for my catering business is to have a little something for everyone. We have mouthwatering desserts, healthy meal prep, fresh-pressed juices, to southern comfort foods. My ultimate goal is to do speaking engagements and to have my own line of sauces.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This road has been tough but I know its what I am here to do and giving up is not an option. Relocating after a divorce was extremely hard. I had to regroup fast and stay focused.

Please tell us more about your work.
I am known for my banana pudding, oxtails, fresh-pressed juices, and sea moss gel. I am proud that I am gradually making constant steps to being successful in this business. What sets me apart is my aim for perfection, my versatility, and my passion for what I do!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I have many fond memories of my childhood but one of my favorites is my parents taking us to Niagra Falls Canada!
