Meet The Ladies of Sitting Pretty, Keeping it Real Podcast in Central Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to The Ladies of Sitting Pretty, Keeping it Real Podcast.

Let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In early 2017, Our Founder Malcolm Xavier, host of Podson Podcast, pitched the concept to the five of us about creating a Ladies podcast. Originally, we had no idea of what that would look like. As we slowly began to bring the podcast to life, we agreed on the name Sitting Pretty, Keeping it Real Podcast. “Pretty” not in the sense of your physical attributes but as an informal adverb, “keeping it real” because we vowed to be 💯 with our thoughts or opinions. We then decided on an interview-style podcast and added some fun & flair to it (Decor, Food & Martinis). We begin booking guests and launched the first podcast in August 2017. Fast forward to now, March 2019, you can now listen to our podcast on iTunes, iHeart Radio, SoundCloud, Spotify, TuneIn Radio, Overcast, RadioPublic, Pocket Casts, Player.FM, YouTube, GooglePlay, Stitcher and Spreaker.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the challenges we faced in the early stages of the podcast, was scheduling amongst the ladies. We’ve worked through the kinks by each of us realizing that if we wanted our brand to be successful. We would have to find the time & stay committed. We now treat the podcast/or events as any other priorities we have in our personal lives. We make the time for it.

Sitting Pretty, Keeping it Real Podcast – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Our podcast consists of five multi-generational ladies (Niké, Spicee T, Queen B, Kimmie & T to the E), each one brings different perspectives to the podcast table. We provide a platform for local/non-local artists, entrepreneurs, musicians, creatives, business owners, poets, fitness, etc. to promote themselves and their business while having a fun chill night with us! Each of our podcast recordings are tailored with the special guest in mind from the decor & food spread to our specialized Martinis. We specialize in creating a fun laid back environment with great energy! It makes us really proud when our guests leave with a smile and appreciative of the amazing environment we created. We love making them comfortable enough to sit with us and discuss some interesting hot topics, also to promote themselves and their business! We pride ourselves on treating our guests like family, our hospitality is A1!

Do you feel like there are certain traits that increase the likelihood of success?
Our success is determined by our consistency, being loyal to our brand, bringing good vibes and energy when we interact with the public & our podcast guests, continuing to align with people that have a story to tell or a business or talent to promote. Also, networking and building relationships throughout the community. Another important key to success for us is that we (SPKIR) continues to promote, support and empower local entrepreneurs, small business owners, creatives, etc.
