Meet Kyndal Buckey and Haley Fouts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyndal Buckey and Haley Fouts.

Kyndal and Haley, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We met working for a corporate salon five years ago. After working together for five years, we were ready to venture out on our own and build a business. We were ready to have independence in our finances and have a healthier work/life balance. We chose to open up small suite in north Phoenix off of happy valley and opened up the shop overnight…literally. Labor Day weekend 2017 was a monumental moment for us and we had no idea what we were in for and how rewarding it could all be. We built our business off of referrals from our clients and promoting ourselves through social media. The power of referrals and social media is amazing. Both referrals and social media are free, which makes the potential to grow limitless.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
For us, it was a really smooth process building our shop. Before leaving our corporate salon we spend months preparing our plans, gathering resources and putting money aside so we would be financially stable and we chose to not go into debt when we opened our business, which was a huge risk to blow out our savings, but the risk ended up being 100% worth it. Every day we say how grateful we are to be able to run a business the way we want and have it work out in the best way possible.

A lot of people in our industry struggle with getting along with their suitemates. Luckily we have a really close bond that allows us to bounce ideas off of each other and we always respect the other person’s opinions.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Our business is Brows By Haley and Kyndal Az. We are licensed, aestheticians and cosmetologists. We specialize in brow transformations. Our business was built on brow waxing and tinting, but we also offer services such as permanent makeup brows and lash lifts. We are most proud of our business growth in such a short amount of time. After leaving the corporate salon, we took what clients we could, and built our business off of a small number of loyal clients. Over the past two years, our business has gone from days with only one or two clients, to being fully booked days-weeks in advanced.

We’ve started offering retail items and merchandise and we are even looking to expand our staff soon. What sets us apart from others is our will to constantly improve. We are always going to continuing education courses and looking for new and innovative ways to make our clients feel beautiful and confident when they leave the salon.

Our clients deserve all of the credit. They’ve been patient with us before we even started the business. They’ve moved from location to location to location with us and never batted an eye at all of our changes. Our clients constantly support us and definitely could not do it without them.
