Today we’d like to introduce you to Kylie Holman.
Kylie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I moved here from LA when I was young, Music has always been an outlet for me and I was born with a passion to share my lyrics with others who may relate to the tough times surrounding us as a society. I have taken many voice classes to help with my stage fright because when I first discovered my voice I was terrified of the rejection that could come with it. Since conquering that fear I have played five live shows within the last five months.
In addition I spent a year of vocal training with a professional vocal coach which taught me a tremendous amount about my craft, Most recently I have released two new singles streaming on all social platforms and a music video streaming on YouTube, I went from a scared, insecure girl afraid to speak her truth to expressing my trials and tribulations with the hope that someone going through the same darkness will understand they are not alone.
Many unreleased tracks to come so stay tuned 🙂
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road to my dream of a music career has been as equally bumpy as it has been smooth. With the ups always comes the downs. Many struggles come with making music, you can’t help but wonder “will people relate to what I am saying?” And then beyond that is the heavy knot in your chest called anxiety while you await the public’s reaction of your self-expression. But at the end of the day, the smooth always out ways the bumpy, because I am connecting with people who feel the way most of us do but don’t ever talk about it.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a vocalist for many genres including Jazz, EDM, R&B, Indie, and pop. I currently have two singles streaming on all major music platforms, as well as two music videos on YouTube. My artist’s name is KY, I write all my own lyrics and do vocals for many of the local Arizona Dj’s. I am currently shopping out unreleased tracks to labels to get my music out to a larger crowd.
I am apart of a mental health podcast to educate the public the importance of mental health and how to cope with it. I myself struggle with mental health and think it should be addressed more. When asked what sets me apart from others, id have to say its because all I want to do with music is let people know they are not alone.
When you look back, what are you most proud of?
My proudest moment so far was performing live at Pitch A Tent music festival in flagstaff 2019. That was the biggest crowd I have ever sang for and the energy was magical. My first single was also a huge accomplishment, but there is nothing more beautiful then performing for a crowd who supports your dream.
