Meet Kylie Fast

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kylie Fast.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
For years I have taken pictures of family and friends. I always thought it would be fun to be a photographer, but was intimidated by the title because it belonged to my brother, or other people, but not me. I started doing research on different aspects of photography, and once I started I couldn’t stop. I fiddled around with my camera and realized I liked what I saw. So I decided, “Just go for it! Go for photography!” And so I did. And I’ve been grateful ever since.

Please tell us about your art.
There are so many different styles of photography, making it extra important to decide what style fits me as an artist. I have quickly discovered that I love capturing beautiful light and airy images. I keep all the colors vibrant, but soft and delicate. I feel that it brings out a happier and more positive vibe instantaneously. I hope that by capturing people with happy and positive images, it allows them to feel confident in their self-image and see the beauty that others see in them.

Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
The best advice I could possibly give is not to be scared; just go for it. I often get down on myself and say, “I’m not as good as this photographer who’s been practicing for 10 years.” You know what? Maybe I’m not. But I like my work. And I know others like it because they share that with me. So it doesn’t matter where someone else is in their career, it matters where YOU are. Focus on YOU.
