Meet No One Wins in Glendale / Avondale

Today we’d like to introduce you to No One Wins.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
No One Wins is a fast-paced hard edged punk/rock band from Glendale, AZ that has set out to answer a question not asked: What happens when a bunch of metal dudes start a punk band? No One Wins. Sometimes punk, sometimes hardcore, sometimes clever. No One Wins has been playing all over Arizona since 2013 after friends Zack Prather and Kurtis Curfew decided they were tired of not making music with each other…. after a couple of jam sessions at Kurt’s house they recruited Zack’s long time friend since middle school John Fisher (who just so happened to be an amazing drummer) later bringing in fellow friend since Jr High Tyler Lantz (formerly of baby lottery) on bass. They have since finished three studio E.P’s. and are currently recording a fourth (themselves, it’s taking a while) If you like hardcore flavored punk rock or punk rock flavored hard rock…Then you are in the right place! No One Wins is out to prove that punk isn’t dead it just gained a “few” and got a real job.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been smoothish? What with new marriages / kids / career commitments the band has at times taken a back seat to “real life” in 2019 No One Wins played 1 show with our buddies (the Accident Theory) for their CD release show and another private party with our friends in Squared (formerly Alex Squared) We as a group are looking to become much more active again in the following year but have admittedly not been actively seeking out new shows but more so just playing with friends for fun which is really why we do this anyway. We also like showing that old dudes can get out the house and rock the sh** out with the youngins.

What else should our readers know?
Our band is known for mixing genres and fake out endings. We’re proud of the music we write and record and feel like our songwriting does set us apart in the scene from other groups plus we all have fantastic hair and our drummer John looks like Aladdin.

What were you like growing up?
I was a nerd… I was into ExoSquad and STTNG… I played drums in the school Jr high Jazz band (but that did nothing for my coolness) and I was really into any new music I could get my hands on and listened to a lot of stuff introduced to me by friends and their older/cooler brothers. Most of my musical growth has come from listening to bands that the those bands were into Thanks to Nirvana I got into the pixies, Thanks to Pearl Jam I got into Bad Religion, thanks to Green Day I got into Operation Ivy, thanks to Blink 182 I got into The Decedents, etc.
