Meet Kristyn Roberts of Kristyn Marie in Central Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristyn Roberts.

Kristyn, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always grown up loving photography, photo editing, and taking pictures of everything and everyone. I was always trying to capture the ordinary in creative ways. I didn’t ever think I would turn it into a career but just enjoyed this is a hobby. When it came to Instagram, I just used it for personal photos, as most people do. Then, I heard about the world of influencing. I thought, how cool is it that I can use my creative mind to take pictures of products to help market them all while having fun and getting paid. From there, I started to organically grow my Instagram and develop a personal brand for myself. I use my own presets that I made from scratch and used to edit my photos.

I started getting approached by different companies to take pictures of their items and when I started reaching out to companies I love, I was amazed to find they would be interested to partner with me. I have now been doing this for one year and I still love it. I love the challenge of having to come up with different ways to put my creative brain to work by capturing every product differently. Being an Instagram influencer has been such a fun experience! I have met so many wonderful people and have made so many cool connections through being an influencer. I’ve had the opportunity to try products I never would before and work with brand I have never heard of which has been really cool.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not. Sometimes working with brands can be difficult or they can be demanding of you so it has been really interesting to learn how to work with companies and keep the integrity of my brand. I have definitely been scammed by some fake companies (which I suggest everyone learns how to spot them because it is easy to fall into it). Also, when I first started a lot of my friends and family were not supportive. They didn’t understand why I wanted to do this, or what the point of it was and I would get made fun of and have definitely heard my fair share of hurtful comments. It was tough at times to keep pursuing this because when the people you love and care about don’t support you, it makes you question a lot of things. But, I found that the people who knew me best and understood me as a person and as a creative quickly came around. There is also such a huge support group of girls on Instagram that I met that helped remind me that I am doing this for me and don’t need other people’s approval.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a photographer, a model and a creative. I would say I am known for my unique and creative way to take pictures and market different products on Instagram. I am proud of how far I have come since first starting! I have gained a pretty good following and continue to grow. I have partnered with a lot of big name brands and companies that I have grown to love and now use their products consistently. I would like to say what sets me apart from others is my honesty. With every collaboration I book, I strive to make sure that what I say is truthful about the products and that I genuinely like what I am using. If it arrives and is not what I expected, I will reach out to the companies because I want to make sure that what I post is truthful.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I feel that intentionality and honesty is very important for my success. Instagram is all about being creative and engaging with your audience. I strive to get to know my followers and develop a personal connection with them. I never want to come across as fake or not myself.
