Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Civille.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
When I became a “stay at home mom,” I was completely lost in this world full of pressure and expectations. I came from a corporate background that was full of routine and task-oriented days. Motherhood was completely different. It was isolating and lonely. When my son had turned one, I finally realized I needed more mom friends so I googled “stroller workouts and fitness” and that is when I found FIT4MOM which changed my whole life. I showed up to a workout that I thought was going to be a walk in the park, but turned out to be a challenging but doable workout with my baby in tow! I was so excited! I signed up immediately and became that client that attended 3-4 classes per week! Then, I had my second baby and returned to Stroller Strides within weeks that I had an instructor call me out and say “you need to be an instructor.” Sure enough, I was certified within three months because I wanted to give mamas like me that same experience! I wanted mamas to feel empowered and in total control of their schedules. Like they were accomplishing things and that they were working on taking care of themselves. I was an instructor for a year and realized that this is my life! I need more! Sure enough, the timing just worked out that the franchise owner at the time was making some personal moves in life and was selling the zip codes that I primarily taught in. I leaped at the opportunity to be the owner of such an amazing business that empowered moms to do more and be more! I am so happy to own a business that allows moms to focus on themselves without feeling that “mom guilt.” This is where I belong, and it is funny how things always just work out!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Motherhood will never present you with a smooth road. There are always challenges as a mom regardless of your life circumstances. I have an amazing husband, but he is also a hard worker like me so the biggest struggle for us is that work-life balance. Both of us have that personality that we would do anything for our families, but also for our other roles in life. It takes a lot of planning, coordinating, and asking for help for us to both accomplish what we set out to do in our roles!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about FIT4MOM Metro Phoenix – what should we know?
FIT4MOM provides fitness classes for all stages of motherhood. Prenatal, mommy and me stroller classes, run club and mom only boot camp is all the different types of classes you can get from us! But if you ask what sets us apart from others, well, that is the community. We are this cool mom club that accepts every type of mama out there! And it happens organically and it is amazing. As a client, I have been to many workout classes and concepts. This is by far a special one!
How do you define success?
Success to me is walking into a FIT4MOM class and experiencing something different than any other workout group. I see different moms trying to accomplish different things, and ideally, I see an instructor making that happen for #allthemoms. As an owner, I will not be able to not teach classes, This is my passion! I love working with all the moms! BUT all the moms come with different stories and backgrounds! That is what makes our group amazing. I will have collegiate athletes to mamas that have not been able to workout since getting pregnant and that is OKAY! We are happy to meet you where you are at! I want us to love on those mamas and give them exactly the experience that they want in a FIT4MOM class!
