Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristie Fonseca.
Kristie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I would have to say I’ve always had a love for Photography. I dabbled here and there growing up, but really starting enjoying it and exploring while serving in the Navy ’92-’05. When I got out of the military I still had the urge and was always looking for something to shoot. I shot what I could when I could, then… children happened ha ha ha…. sports yay!
I started taking pictures of my sons football games, next thing you know I was taking pictures for the other parents, then the team, then the league. I continued to take pictures of them and other sports from Pop Warner, high school and semi pro, the rest is history. Here I am.
While traveling I was exposed to many things that contributed to where I am today. Experiencing different people, cultures, landscapes, everywhere I looked I wanted to share it…. I want people to not only see it but feel it and experience it with me. What better way to do that than photography.
The more I learned and experienced the more I wanted to share. The passion I have for photography burns deep and taking advantage of any opportunity I find feeds my hunger to learn more. I am a member of multiple photography groups that have workshops, meet-ups and encourage their fellow photogs.
I believe in positive energy and I try to keep a positive attitude no matter how challenging things get in both life and photography. Learn and Grow…. stick to it… stay positive, focused and never ever give up. I learn from others but only compete with myself. I truly believe that is what keeps my flame alive. I want to be better than I was yesterday.
I must say though, A HUGE part of how I got to where I am today is the encouragement of my family, friends and those who believed in me. Once my mind is made up about something and have a goal, I stay on it. I may not reach it today, tomorrow, or even a year from now but I will. Having a supportive community is great fuel.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Oh no no no…. nothing smooth about it. It’s definitely been a challenging and growing experience thus far.
Learning off camera flash (OCF) was and still is probably the most challenging learning curve. I love shooting natural light but there is a necessity for artificial light therefore, flash.
I can hold my own when it comes to OCF but there’s still so much to learn.
Definitely one thing I love about photography…. there’s always something to learn and the opportunities and outcomes are endless.
Building clientele, how to advertise, getting people to trust you with everything. Those are real struggles on top of taking care of your family and running a successful business. It’s not always easy but that’s okay. When your heart is where it belongs, you can get thru it.
Please tell us about ISO VP Studios and Fonseca Photography.
ISO VP Studios and Fonseca Photography is a husband and wife team that offer photography and video for: senior graduates, sports, weddings, maternity, birth, special events and charity.
As the photographer of the team I specialize in boudoir and portraits. I also hold a special place in my heart for the fun carefree but intimate emotion of Lifestyle Photography.
I/we are also known for our Storm Chasing and Milky Way Photography. Nothing exhilarates the soul like capturing the Universe on another level. The beautiful stars that blanket us at night and lightning that reaches across the sky and gone in the blink of an eye….. Now that is an experience that’s never the same twice.
I think what I’m the most proud of as a company is the fact that it was built from scratch with passion, compassion love and a camera. I’m also proud of the fact I can give back to the community and the people. To me it’s not just taking a picture, it’s an experience, it’s the emotion, it’s the forever. I want everyone to have the opportunity to have that to cherish.
Building the clientele was one of the hard parts but developing friendships and putting smiles on people’s faces, that’s the reward….. That’s what I’m proud of the most.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I were to start over the only thing I would have done differently was doing it sooner.
