Meet Kris Anderson of Sedona and Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kris Anderson.

Hi Kris, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
This is my 23rd year practicing residential real estate. I am the team leader of 6 full time professional real estate agents. I started as a solo agent in Seattle, Washington after my career in medical/pharmaceutical sales and professional tennis. I sought out the very best designated broker in WA to guide me in the importance of contracts (writing contracts, listing agreements, addendums). At the start of my career- I sat open houses every day for 4 hours a day. That was the best way for me to add to my database, meet people and get to know the inventory. I was rookie of the year my first year as I concentrated on farming a Condo Neighborhood in Kent, WA. I knew every condo in the neighborhood and concentrated on meeting people living in the neighborhood.

In my first year, I sold 48 condos… By year three, I had a trusted partner in place to help with buyers. Shortly after that, I moved back to my hometown of Phoenix, AZ and kept my license in WA. My mother was selling real estate for Coldwell Banker and it fit that she and I would join forces while my partner drove WA sales. Mom and I worked together for two more years before her retirement. When she retired, I moved to REMAX Excalibur. I hired an assistant and an assistant to my assistant and for three years as a solo practitioner and consistently selling in the top 10% of Arizona agents for sales productions. From that point forward, I knew I wanted to build a team of successful agents and hired my first buyer’s agent. It grew from there. For ten years, I developed solid systems, and our team was top 20 for sales volume according to the Phoenix Business Journal. In 2015, I made a move to Sedona, AZ and for two years would travel every week back down to Scottsdale as I grew my Sedona business. In 4.5 years (with four full time agents now in Sedona and two full time agents in Scottsdale), ILOVESEDONAREALESTATE became the #1 Sales Volume Team for both 2019 and 2020 and top 1% of all Arizona Teams… Our team names ILoveSedonaRealEstate-eXp Realty and Your Premier Team- eXp Realty.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would summarize my career to a cross country plane trip in a storm… Never smooth- but I have the turbulence under control 🙂 The hardest part of my career was moving to a smaller market with zero market share. I had a huge plan that has had huge success (going from zero to #1). The agents in the small market were not greeting me with open arms or hugs… Slowly, after much hard work, slit tires, and emails to my sellers with falsified info- I have gained the respect of most of my peers.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an out of box thinker and solution dealer when it comes to selling residential real estate. The former owner said it best on why one should hire Kris Anderson to either help a seller or buyer: “Kris is the best agent I have ever seen keep deals together. If something is falling apart, she comes up with a solution to keep the deal together. Her resilience, intelligence, and persistence keep the deal together. If she cannot sell it or keep it together, then nobody can keep it together.” I am most proud of the solutions I come up with for clients and for my teammates. And during COVID, our team had the best sales volume year of my career-ending at $96,000,000 in volume. We put a portion of our commissions aside to start “Joy for Ray”. The campaign is a tribute to my Dad, Ray, who has Alzheimer’s and is in memory care. I bought a robotic kitten for him and he had fewer falls, feels like he has a companion, and has happiness. Our team figured it would be a great thing to give to many seniors: We bought robotic doggies and kitties and have been delivering them to memory care units for seniors. Seniors in memory care units light up when they have a robotic dog or cat. It improves their mood, helps alleviate anxiety, and also helps their caregivers… A true win-win.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Sedona is a magical place surrounded by Red Rocks, multiple hiking trails, some of the best Arizona Wines, outstanding chefs, and people who live in Sedona are happy and friendly. My least favorite thing about Sedona is around holidays and the traffic on Highway 89A and 179… It requires proper planning to get from Point A to B.
