Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Song
Hi Kim, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started running because I did my annual physical and was borderline high cholesterol. It was an eye opener because I’m in my early 30’s and I know it will only get worse if I didn’t do anything about it. Not only that I was fatigue every day with no motivation to tackle my normal daily tasks. It has been 10 months since my running journey and this year, my cholesterol levels went down.
I went from the girl who made excuses to get out of running 1 mile in high school to the girl who now voluntarily runs 13 miles. If you put out the work, your body will start showing up for you!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road because I did not have a lot of knowledge about running and the first few months I experienced really bad shin splints. I learned that too many miles too quickly can cause injuries to your legs. Also, two months before my first half marathon I was extremely sick and I wasn’t able to train at all. However, because I was not able to train for my half marathon my legs recovered from shin splint, so it was a blessing in disguise that I got sick.
For anyone who wants to get into running, just remember to start slow to prevent any injuries, strength training is so important to get stronger, carbs is your best friend, and last, but not least hydrate.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Aside from my running hobby, I used to do calligraphy and was very passionate about it however, it took a lot of my time so that chapter has closed. I have a really good penmanship and creativity.
In the real word, I work full-time as an accountant at a small Audio Visual company. This is the best company that I’ve ever worked for in my entire life. I have been at this company for three years ever since I moved to Arizona.
I enjoy my work as an Accountant because I get to sit behind a computer and not have to talk to anyone because I am an introvert.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory was when my parents took my siblings and I to Disneyland. As a child and an adult, I love Disneyland. This place is just so magical and it allows you to bring out your inner child.
