Meet Kim Boike of The Entrepreneur’s Source

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Boike.

Kim, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I spent 27 years as a teacher, working in both Michigan and Arizona. In 2019, my husband’s career brought us from the Detroit area to Gilbert, Arizona. After teaching for a couple of years here, I realized I was ready for a new chapter. I loved education, but I wanted more flexibility, freedom, and fulfillment in my work.

When I started exploring new opportunities, I quickly discovered how challenging it was to stand out in today’s job market. Submitting résumés through online systems and dealing with AI screening was frustrating, and even when I did land an interview, I found that many roles didn’t provide the flexibility or stability I was looking for. I wanted a remote opportunity that would allow me to be there for family in Michigan if needed and to maintain continuity if my husband’s job required another move.

Around that time, my husband was laid off and connected with a career ownership coach. We decided to go through the process together since we were both at a crossroads. Our coach guided us through a journey of education, discovery, and awareness helping us define our goals, needs, and expectations, and exploring different paths to achieve them. We evaluated the pros and cons of W2 employment, real estate investing, stock market investing, and business ownership.

While we were familiar with traditional employment and already active investors, we wanted to learn more about business ownership, especially franchising. I had always thought about starting a business but never knew where to begin. It felt overwhelming. Franchising appealed to me because of the support, structure, and proven systems it offers.

Throughout the process, our coach encouraged us to stay open-minded and focus on learning rather than deciding too quickly. As I explored different industries and models, I realized how much I enjoyed the discovery process itself—helping people learn about possibilities, evaluate options, and gain clarity. I asked my coach how I could do what he was doing, and that’s when I learned about The Entrepreneur’s Source.

The business aligned perfectly with my values and strengths. It combined my passion for education with the flexibility of working virtually and the opportunity to guide others through meaningful career transitions. My husband chose to stay in the corporate world a bit longer, and I decided to invest in The Entrepreneur’s Source franchise.

I’ am now a business ownership coach, and I truly love what I do. I help clients explore their options, discover what’s possible, and gain clarity about their goals all at no cost or obligation to them. It’s incredibly rewarding to see people go through the same transformation I experienced: learning, growing, and finding the courage to take control of their futures.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have definitely been challenges along the way. One of the first adjustments was getting used to not receiving a paycheck every two weeks. That took some time to get comfortable with, but once my business was established, I was able to create consistent income and financial stability.

Another significant challenge was maintaining a positive mindset when moments of doubt began to creep in. I found myself questioning whether I made the right decision or if I was really capable of doing this. Over time, I learned to train my mind not to listen to that inner voice and to stay connected with supportive, like-minded people who help keep me focused.

It is not always easy, and if it were, everyone would be doing it. I reached a point where I knew it was time to bet on myself and believe in what I was building. That is something I also share with my clients. I ask them to identify their number one strength and to rely on it when things get difficult. I have learned to do the same in my own journey.

For me, growth happens when I step outside of my comfort zone. Leaning into challenges has been the key to that growth. Whenever things feel tough, I always go back to my “why.” Remembering the flexibility, freedom, and ability to work from anywhere that I have created for myself reminds me exactly why I chose this path.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am an educator and coach in business ownership. I work with individuals who are seeking to create multiple streams of income, diversify their investments, navigate a career transition, or explore new opportunities after a layoff.

My approach begins by understanding each client’s goals, needs, and expectations. I take a holistic view, focusing not only on professional aspirations but also on personal priorities. Together, we identify clear goals and explore the different paths that can help achieve them, carefully weighing the pros and cons of each.

I collaborate with a network of trusted affiliates to provide education and insight into various opportunities. My area of expertise is franchising, and I offer a safe, no-cost, no-obligation space for clients to learn about the franchise world. This includes understanding different brands, how territories are structured, what the financials look like, and what to expect throughout the process of franchise ownership.

Because funding is often a key consideration, I connect clients with funding education experts who explain the various financing options and their requirements. Once funding potential is established, we move into a structured discovery process that allows clients to learn about franchising in depth. Each conversation builds on the last, deepening their understanding and helping them gain clarity on whether franchising aligns with their goals.

Throughout the process, I provide guidance, support, and perspective, helping clients process what they are learning, clarify their takeaways, and determine their next steps. Ultimately, my goal is to help people discover what is possible beyond the traditional job market and make informed, confident decisions about their future.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice for those just starting out is to give yourself permission to explore and learn before making big decisions. Take the time to understand your goals, both personal and professional, and don’t rush the process. Surround yourself with knowledgeable people who will guide and educate you, not just sell you something.

I wish I had known earlier how important it is to look at opportunities holistically. It’s not just about income potential; it’s about how a business fits your lifestyle, values, and long-term goals. The right opportunity will align with who you are, not just what you do. Be open-minded, ask questions, and trust that clarity will come through education and exploration.
