Hi Kim, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I had never received a massage before enrolling in massage school. It was 1997, and I was a 23-year-old single mother raising my two-year-old son. At that stage of my life, I was looking for a career that could provide stability and growth for both of us. Living in Ohio, I decided to tour a massage therapy school. After sitting in on just two classes, I felt inspired and knew this was a path worth exploring.

Massage therapy at that time was still emerging as a recognized profession. The school tuition was $10,000, which felt far out of reach for me. Determined, I applied for a scholarship and was connected with an organization that supported single mothers who wanted to advance themselves. I wrote an essay explaining not only the benefits of massage but also the many directions this career could take me—including writing about wellness. My application was accepted, and I received a full grant covering the two-year program, with the exception of books.

Massage school changed the trajectory of my life. I learned far more than techniques—I discovered the profound connection between body, mind, and emotions. By the time I graduated in 1999, I carried with me not only skills but also a deeper understanding of the human experience.

My first job was with a chiropractor, where I worked for nine months before stepping into entrepreneurship. Over the years, life took me through several moves, eventually landing my family in Arizona in 2013. That’s when I began working with a mobile massage company, an experience that opened my eyes to the growing demand for this type of service. Inspired, I launched Phoenix Mobile Massage in 2015.

Since then, the business has grown steadily, especially during the beautiful Arizona season from October through April. We provide massage therapy for snowbirds, bachelor and bachelorette parties, assisted living facilities, hotels, resorts, and anyone seeking the convenience of in-home care.

In addition to traditional massage, I have developed a specialty in abdominal massage for women’s health. This technique supports reproductive and fertility wellness, digestive function, and the release of stored trauma. It is one of the most meaningful ways I serve clients, helping them connect more deeply with their bodies.

Looking back, I am filled with gratitude. What began as a young mother’s hope for a sustainable career has become a lifelong calling. Phoenix Mobile Massage is not just a business—it’s the fulfillment of my purpose, built with passion and carried forward with love.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. With each move, I’ve had to rebuild my clientele from the ground up. Advertising has constantly shifted over the years—from placing ads in the Yellow Pages back in the day to navigating ever-changing social media algorithms and maintaining a strong Google presence. Along the way, I’ve also learned the importance of carefully screening clients, ensuring safety and clear precautions with every session.

We are a mobile massage company that provides everything you need for a deeply relaxing experience in the comfort of your own home—including the massage table, linens, oil or lotion, and soothing music. You can choose from individual sessions, couples massages, or group sessions, with the option of having multiple therapists available to accommodate larger gatherings or parties.
