Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiki Cordero.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kiki. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I moved to AZ in 2007 from Vegas. Over the years I had worked as a bartender, promotions manager, Casting Associate, Casting Director, Publicist and Ad Sales Assoc. The one thing that kept me going through every city and every job was my love for Pilates. As a chick with many sports injuries, who hated working out, I decided there might be something to that. I got certified as a hobby because I wasn’t really happy at work. I fell in love even more while going through my apprenticeship helping people that one day I said “f” comfortable, I wanted to be happy. The jump was scary!
After a few years working in Pilates Rehab at a chiro’s office, I realized I wasn’t happy seeing my clients/patients being turned away from their rehab/pain management because insurance would no longer cover the services, so I saved up to buy a reformer and started COR out of my house. Within two years I had a full blown studio in Scottsdale where I was finally able to help people achieve their goals, and mine to help improve lives. Over the years leading up to that, I did continuing education with doctors and surgeons all over the world to “perfect my craft”.
A few years in, though still loving my decision, I realized that I wanted more and felt I plateaued. An amazing man and my Chiro, Simon Billingham, in AZ introduced me to his new machine for pain management. He fixed the kink in my neck and frozen shoulder in 30min!!! I wanted to know when he became a magician and wanted to know how I could become one too 🙂 In 2017 Simon trained me in this new modality called ElectronsPlus Guided PEMF. Electromagnetic frequencies travel from the machine through my body to the person I work on. It’s futuristic. It allows me to pinpoint what’s not working properly in people’s bodies and essentially fix it. So here I go from helping Pilates rehab to oncology patients, stroke patients, you name it… I have some pretty incredible stories and testimonials to share. There are currently about 52ppl in the country that does this modality. That being said, I was killing myself working 14-18hrs a day and needed to change things. I again made a leap in 2018 and decided to close the structure known as COR and took my practice on the road to share it with everyone that would let me. I currently reside in LA and still see clients in AZ, FL, WI and Chi. I get to travel all over the US educating people about Guided PEMF just what cellular & nerve regeneration can do for the body. In addition, I incorporate Pilates strengthening and stabilization principles to offer full mind, body and soul healing. I’ll be launching my online studio by the summer ‘20 that will be focused on short and effective workout routines for people on the go that deal with chronic pain and injuries.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Work/life balance is never easy. I struggled financially most of the way, in the beginning, trying to make sure my pricing helped others… Even though it didn’t help me cover my overhead. Rather than taking away my services from some by raising my prices, I worked two to three jobs on little to no sleep making myself sick because I wanted to make other people happy. I was too embarrassed to admit my almost defeat and I almost lost my studio once because of it. To the naked eye, everything in my life was almost perfect. I had/have the most amazing clients that came together to help me keep it by prepaying their services. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
Please tell us about your work.
I specialize in Pilates rehabilitation, sports therapy and PEMF (Pulse Electromagnetic Frequency) Therapy. I pay attention to clients’ body mechanics, help them correct improper alignment and strengthen from within. Thanks to PEMF, I can help people get pain relief that they’ve been told there is no relief from.
The one thing people can say about me is that I care. I’m only good if I’m helping someone feel better.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’ll be launching cor247.com in the summer of 2020 to bring my practice and attention to detail when it comes to fitness to the masses. My emphasis will be on short and effective routines for people on the go that deal with chronic pain & injuries. I’m also working on finalizing COR satellite offices in a few cities.
