Today we’d like to introduce you to Khrystyna Kozuyk.
Hi Khrystyna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After finishing my University in Ukraine, I moved to Chicago and spend a couple of years adjusting to the new country’s culture and language. After selling a couple of my paintings to my acquaintances I realized I can survive as an artist. Then I started to participate in different exhibitions and took any opportunities I could to show my artwork.
And in 2012 became a full-time artist. Running around in the Midwest for shows art fairs some Museum shows and creating custom art. I was dreaming of having my studio and having people come over to my place to get together to hear people’s stories and creating own freedom around art. It was just a dream. I understood that Chicago was not a place for me.
In 2015, I visit Sedona and was totally in love with red racks and my dream get to another level. At this point, I created a ceramic outside sign for my place and put it in storage. Three years ago, I finally moved to Sedona and opened my studio gallery with my sign Kozuyk Gallery.
I am an artist creating oil paintings on modern larger-size canvases. Floral landscape seascape abstract in my style. Working in my Sedona gallery/studio open to the public so welcome to stop by and watch the artist at work.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
We never know or can not predict how many steps we need to do before any success So many times I was upset and disappointed. The only thing I always trying and trying and trying again.
Looking forward and dreaming. Many times did not listen to the advice of people around me telling me I better get a normal job. Deep inside of me, I knew I will be a successful selling artist just need to take my time and my little steps. I always believe despite all surroundings.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I have happy memories growing up in a small beautiful town close to nature I learned to be observing from my childhood Little Haven no computers and cell phones) I remember I spent so much time painting and drawing with my grandfather’s horses he was very talented.
