Meet The Real Khiry

Today we would like to introduce you to The Real Khiry.

The Real Khiry, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Since a little kid music and entertainment has been a fascination for me. Starting out in kindergarten on stage for little performances caused me to be bitten by the bug, the entertainment bug. From there on out, I was on a stage every year throughout elementary, middle, and high school. Performing arts has been part of my life for as long as I could remember. After high school, I made my way to college, where I attended Murray State University and became one of the first freshmen to perform on for a Fraternity/Sorority step show. From that day on it really opened my eyes to the fact that I could really be a solo artist if I take it seriously so, I wasn’t able to finish college and I made my way back home to Atlanta, GA where I would connect with a couple of producers, old friends and in turn it got the ball rolling for myself.

Being back home and being back with the correct people in my corner gave me real motivation to do well and be better within my craft. I started to meet celebrities and was just really submersed in this other world in the music industry. Eventually, I connected with a multi- #1 hit artist Roscoe Dash and from there, I ended up on his tour and was an opening artist and MC for the whole show as well as helped with writing situations for movie scores or songs for other artists. While being on the road, eventually we had a show in Arizona and he also happened to mention that he had a house in Arizona and would be probably going back to it. Once I entered Az’s atmosphere, I was in love with it. We did a show at lake Havasu with power 98.3 in 2017. I believe it was and from there on out, I knew eventually I would have to move to Arizona.

After the tour calmed down and Roscoe had family matters to take care of, I made my move to Scottsdale, Az and haven’t looked back since. Since I’ve moved here officially in 2018 of September, I’ve managed to work with some pretty talented artists such as Sincerely Collins, Janae Lucero, Nov The Zoner, J Rob The Chief, Yung Reece, I can go on and on. Since I’ve been here, I’ve also managed to write for a couple of artists and help them improve on their skill & craft. Now, Outside of me being an artist & writer, I’m also an MC at the biggest club in Scottsdale, AZ, “The Mint”. I have mic control, essentially the “Hype Man” but I did so much more than that. Three nights in a row, I am the Resident MC, so if you hadn’t heard my name through music, then you were hearing my name at the club that everyone was attending and you would hear my voice as you partied throughout the night. So I say all that to say this, I got to where I was by continuing the process and pushing through certain adversities. I believed in myself and I had a work ethic and I think with that & some faith it can take you to some pretty amazing places.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Life can be like the yellow brick road at times. You have this spectacular path laid ahead of you. You’re excited for the journey but of course what lies ahead are many lessons. So no, it hasn’t been a smooth road. Working out isn’t a smooth process in order to build muscles, so when you’re building yourself and your brand up as well as your craft there can be many days of doubt. It can get lonely at times when life hits. The relationship with my divorced military parents wasn’t always great and within that lies stories of depression, feeling lost, being unsure of myself. There were many days of never feeling like I would be able to make them proud. My stepfather ended up passing away which sent my mom into a huge depression and with me being the oldest son, I always received the blunt end of the stick. It caused a wedge between my mother and I that can even to this day strike a chord.

There were many days I was kicked out, dealing with many things a middle schooler should never have to deal with. High school wasn’t any easier. It wasn’t until that I got away and I was on my own that things started to blossom for me. I think the majority of America has financial issues so I just look at that as a problem that needed a solution so being in Atlanta we made due with what was around us in order to get money so that we could be in the studio so that we could record so that we could shoot music videos and up our exposure. Life can be seen as a struggle or, it can be seen as a diamond building process and in order for that to happen you need pressure. What’s life if there is no pressure to become better? Smooth roads are for someone just trying to get by, while a little bump here & there that are full of lessons for the right person, will change the perception of how they see “struggle.”

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
My business/company would be solely me. I am the entity, I am the brand. I’m an artist, songwriter and MC club host. Apart from being an artist that has been quickly paid attention to in Arizona, I specialize in writing music for other artists as well as keeping people entertained. I’m known around Arizona either for my music, for my writing ability, or for my ability in keeping 1,000+ people entertained for three nights in a row for almost three years and people don’t get tired of my voice or of me in general. That’s a big accomplishment for me and my brand because it tells me a major thing about a certain quality that is needed in order to remain successful in the entertainment industry, you need to be like-able and to be able to handle entertainment pressures which I do very well at. One of the best at my job in general.

What sets me apart from the many of people that do what I do is my energy and my level of professionalism, the professional character never breaks, the show for the people come first and our enjoyment comes 2nd and that’s the commitment that I have to presenting what I present which would be myself. I’m proud to know that I came to a place completely foreign to me and was able to gain traction, attention and reciprocated love. I did what many people dream of and never set a foot forward to do. I come from a place where people claim to want to be apart of something bigger themselves but never put the work in or choose not to step out of their comfort zone in order to better their craft. Moving to Arizona, where I knew all of two people, forced me to really buckle down show the city who I was and what I had to offer. Here I am this day with offers to sign, offers to do a Netflix show “Rhythm & Flow” season 2, I’d say that’s something to be proud of. However, with that being said, there is so much more that I want to complete.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is seeing the hard work put in manifest into positive fruition. There can be a small success and huge success and in the grand picture of it all, its still success and leading up to your major goal. Success should include others that you were able to put in great positions. To simplify, success equals growth. Positive growth and knocking out small goals in order to accomplish the larger ones are the markers I look for. As long as we’re positively growing, streaming numbers are going up and people are paying attention & want to be apart of the movement in some fashion, there is major success in that.
