Meet Kevin Simshauser of The Phix Real Estate in Arcadia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Simshauser.

Kevin, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I graduated college in 2009, entering one of the worst employment eras in history. I always had a passion for getting into real estate so I set my eyes on becoming a real estate sales agent in Southern California. In 2009, if you had a real estate license, essentially any brokerage would bring on new agents… So I found myself thrown into a “job” and my parents were happy.

For the next two years, I sold residential and multi-family real estate. My success was slow but progressive. I developed connections with investors looking to buy distressed real estate for cash to fix and flip or buy and hold. In 2011, I began working for a fund that specialized in single-family fix and flip real estate throughout Southern CA. Working as an acquisitions agent, finding, evaluating and negotiating the purchase of 8-10 single family houses per month. In 2012, I decided to make the jump and go out on my own. Looking back, I was nowhere near ready, but I was watching people make a lot of money buying and selling real estate so I figured I better get involved! From 2012-2018, I was responsible for a team that bought and sold over 300 single family homes throughout Southern California.

In this ever-changing market, our business focus has shifted toward single family and multi-family buy and hold real estate investments, however we still wholesale and do the occasional fix and flip. We run direct to seller marketing channels and typically purchase “off market” properties where we can add value either through raising rents, conducting capital improvements, re-positioning the asset, or developing. We are constantly searching for ways to provide a win-win solution for buyers and sellers to help accomplish their real estate goals. Furthermore, we are active within the local Phoenix community on the charitable front as well.

Has it been a smooth road?
Of course, it hasn’t always been a smooth road. We struggled with adapting to the market, learning how to work with and hire the right people. Raising capital, marketing strategies, etc. But we have learned far more through our struggles than our successes.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a boutique real estate investment firm. We focus on locating value add real estate to purchase throughout the valley. We are known for creating a win-win solution with buyers and sellers of real estate to help accomplish whatever goals they are looking to accomplish at a specific time. What makes us proud is that we have thrived throughout the worst economic downturn and still to this day when the real estate market is back or near its peak. We know it’s an ever-changing market and we pride ourselves to constantly learning and keeping up to speed on the latest market trends. What set’s us apart from other’s within the industry is the various options we are able to provide to buyers and sellers of real estate. No situation is the same and we are confident that whatever the situation or need of a buyer or seller may be, we can offer a solution in a timely matter.

What is your favorite childhood memory?
SUMMER TIME. When school was out, attending camps and going to the lake with friends.
