Meet Kerianne Prieto of Simply Stunning MUA in Peoria

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kerianne Prieto.

Kerianne, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have been doing what I love for the last 12+ years… make-Up.

I went to cosmetology school my senior year of high school, in hopes that I could start my career early & get into the field that I have loved since I was a child as soon as possible.

As soon as I graduated from cosmetology school, I knew I wanted to be able to express myself to the fullest, learn as much possible, and build my portfolio. The only place I felt this could happen was MAC Cosmetics, a place my mom had taken me since I was a young girl where I knew I could truly be myself. While working at MAC over a total of 7 years, I passed every certification available to me and was chosen to be put on a team that brings new trends & techniques to other stores in the valley throughout the year.

I was also 1 out of 10 people chosen in the entire United States chosen to be flown to Disneyland & work one of MAC’s largest most memorable events, The Marilyn Monroe Industry Event. Shortly after working this amazing event of a lifetime, I was chosen to be 1 out of 15 to open the first MAC freestanding store in Arrowhead.

While working at MAC, I was also attending Northern Arizona University in order to get my degree in Communication. I feel that my Communication degree allows me to ensure I can provide my clients with the best experience possible & make sure I am understanding exactly what they are looking for and helping them feel comfortable and confident during there time with me.

A little over 4 years ago, I decided to part ways with MAC & focus on my family but I couldn’t stop doing what I truly love, so I decided to pursue my love of make-up on my own and started my own business. My supportive husband helped me get everything started up, building my brand and creating a name that suited my personal style of makeup and what I truly strive for with each of my clients.

I was blessed to have built a clientele through MAC prior to leaving which helped me get started on my own. From there, I started working with local vendors and brides from TheKnot.com as well as worked with a local charity organization called What Matters Foundation where we support women coming out of domestic abuse relationships.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, however, every bump in the road is a learning lesson that I have grown from. Learning how to balance spending quality time with family and taking care of my clients is a struggle I still work on to this day. But I do feel that setting up the correct expectations is the best way to ensure my customers are taken care of to the fullest.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Simply Stunning MUA story. Tell us more about the business.
I provide on location makeup services for women seeking to look and feel simply beautiful. I specialize in providing makeup services using all professional grade products and tools including airbrush.

What sets me apart from other artists is the experience I provide to my clients. It is not just about the make-up, my goal is to truly connect with my clients, making them feel beautiful and comfortable both outside and within. I want them to feel great in there own skin enhancing what they already have instead of changing who they are.

I am so blessed and proud that the clientele I have built wants to feel beautiful in their own skin too and most of them have become close friends who continue supporting me and referring me to there friends and family.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t know if I would call it luck. I feel that I have been blessed to meet people who have a similar view on life and the importance of giving back. Also, I truly love what I do and love building relationships with each of my clients which helps me stay centered and focus on what’s most important.
