Today we’d like to introduce you to Ken Peterson.
From a young age, Ken was immersed in the family real estate and construction business where he learned the importance of hard work and dedication. It’s no wonder the motivated Brophy College Prep and Arizona State alumni entered the homebuilding industry right after college and now serves as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Shea Homes, a family-owned home building company that has valley roots that date back to 1989.
Inspired by his father, Ken learned the ins and outs of the real estate industry along with the values of tenacity, dedication, honesty, and respect. In addition to nurturing his creative and adventurous spirit, his father bought him his first camera as a kid which was the start of a lifelong passion for aesthetics and photography.
Ken joined the Shea Homes family 24 years ago and has seen the company grow tremendously delivering more than 26,000 homes across the valley. Between leading sales team initiatives to drive the highest level of customer service in the industry, Ken has been instrumental in launching the new Shea Signature by Shea Homes luxury brand. “I can’t imagine doing anything else. Every day, I get to work with amazing people, participate in the construction of great communities across the Valley, and help our super talented team to achieve remarkable things for our customers and our community,” says Ken.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The real estate industry is, by its very nature, a cyclical business. Despite all the ups and downs, I wouldn’t trade my experiences for anything. Shea Homes has endured plenty of highs and lows in the housing market, but our team is strong and resilient, and we consistently maintain a focus on building quality homes and delivering an amazing experience for our homeowners. Personally, I have managed over 26,000 new home closings, to which I credit all my gray hair!
Please tell us about Shea Homes Arizona.
Shea Homes is part of the JF Shea Family of Companies, still family-owned and in business since 1881. I have the privilege of overseeing sales and marketing for our Arizona division. I am most proud of our team. It’s truly our people that set us apart from the competition. Our employees are empowered to make sure our customers and homeowners have the ultimate experience. The majority of us have been with Shea for a very long time. We work together as a high-performing team and have abundant passion for what we do.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing, I love the home building industry, we have the ability to design and build amazing communities for people to create lasting memories. Throughout my career I always look forward to going to work every day.
