Meet Kelly Clough of Veritas Medical Solutions in Tempe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Clough.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I had health problems and wanted answers. I didn’t get answers from my conventional doctors, and this launched me on a journey of healing and growth. I realized that health and wellness were my passion and it became my life’s purpose to spread it to as many people as I could. To provide the highest quality of health information and care, I decided to attend medical school to become a Naturopathic Physician.

As a former math geek (physics and economics double major), this was way out of my comfort zone. But again, this journey brought profound healing and immense growth. I graduated from SCNM in Tempe with the knowledge, understanding, and tools to diagnose and treat using both conventional and holistic therapies. All the hard work paid off because I now do what I love – helping people regain their health and live longer and fuller lives.

Has it been a smooth road?
Of course not! Healing and growth aren’t smooth processes. Change is difficult and usually riddled with obstacles. I’m unsure if it can be any other way. A friend once told me, “If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you.” While I don’t recommend making things needlessly difficult, I remind myself and my patients that change can be very challenging, but if it’s positive change it’ll be worth it.

Some of my own challenges include overcoming my personal health issues, surviving medical school without any previous medical experience, opening my first business and making a ton of mistakes, and the constant challenge of providing high-quality individualized care for each of my unique patients.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Veritas Medical Solutions was founded by myself and another Naturopathic Doctor, Dr. Jacquie Leone. “Veritas” is a Latin word meaning “truth”. We seek true health for our patients, rather than band-aids or suppression. We treat a variety of conditions, including diabetes, metabolic syndrome, autoimmune disease, chronic pain, hormonal imbalances, and GI issues.

I’m most proud of the people we’ve been able to empower and treat over the years. We don’t just prescribe a bunch of supplements. We get to the root cause and teach our patients what they can do to create true health. This includes diet, lifestyle, and the mind-body connection. These are the foundations of long-term health, and we take the time to build it with our patients.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
The Greater Phoenix Area is a great place for integrative and holistic medicine. A lot of people are open to integrative and holistic medicine and there’s a strong demand for these services. If you’re just starting out, you don’t have to leave Phoenix if you don’t want to!
