Meet Kelley Carey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelley Carey.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
At a young age I began to see the beauty of the world around me through my first camera. I ventured into photography at thirteen. My German Shepherd at the time, was all I practiced on. I had him trained so when I said “smile”, he would cock his head and perk his ears up every time. I started practicing with couples and families and soon fell in love with the art that encompasses photography. Today I am pursuing my dreams of being a full-time wedding photographer. Each time a bride and groom look into each other’s eyes and say their vows; my eyes start to fill with happy tears. Being able to photograph one of the most important days in a couple’s life, is a huge privilege that I am so grateful for.

A few fun facts to know about me!
-I am a cowgirl at heart
-I love my Annie’s cheddar shells Mac n cheese and Payday bars
-I often listen to classic rock while editing photos
-My German Shepherd’s name is Dodger. My father named him after the “Artful Dodger” in Oliver Twist
-This August marks nine years being behind the camera!

Please tell us about your art.
I am a professional photographer who specialize in portrait and wedding photography. I love photographing animals and capturing their personality, especially horses and dogs! I also enjoy photographing wildlife, and landscapes.

I photograph to capture remarkable memories for people to cherish for a lifetime. Photography is a huge adrenaline rush for me; I meet so many incredible people, witness many heartfelt vows, and capture priceless smiles. I strive to treat all clients like they’re a million-dollar client, and serve them to the best of my abilities!

Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
If you have a dream, GO FOR IT! The only person that can stop you is yourself. Doubt kills many dreams; have the same confidence in yourself as others see in you. In the beginning, you will make mistakes while learning; what’s important is to pick yourself up and learn from your mistakes. My favorite quote was told to me by my Grandpa Ken. He told me ” If someone says you can’t do it, they’re challenging you to try harder. ” The road to success will be filled with challenges, but I promise you it’ll be worth it!

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
People can view my photography on my website; kcareyphotography.com Photographic prints of my landscape and wildlife photography are for sell on my website. I have various sizes and a wide variety of materials such as acrylic metal, wood, metal, and canvas. A few accomplishments over the past couple years:

One of my equine photographs was featured in Cowboys and Indians Magazine. I have been a vendor at the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show. One of my landscape photographs received an honorable mention by the National Wildlife Photo Contest
