Meet Kella Price of United States of America’s Arizona Pageants

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kella Price.

Kella, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As a bikini competitor, a friend recommended that I try to compete in a different venue–a pageant. As a girl, I had never competed in a pageant. However, the emphasis on service and making a difference in the community appealed to me. I love participating in service projects and working to make an impact for the better.

I also wanted to do something for ME–to create an identity for myself that wasn’t tied to being someone’s wife or mom.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I was able to compete nationally as United States of America’s Mrs. Arizona this year and proudly represent our state in Las Vegas. After this experience, I was invited to manage the state pageant. It was such a rewarding and uplifting experience to compete that it was an easy decision to take on this role.

One of the struggles is overcoming negativity that we encounter as women everyday. I think that there sometimes exists a stigma against pageants–it’s not just a “beauty contest”. In fact, 50% of the scoring is based on the interview–so personality and being able to articulate your ideas well is a big success factor! Participating in a pageant is a great way to empower other women to be strong role models and advocate for the causes that are important to them. I love hearing from girls and women that I have inspired to take action. As for those who are negative, I surround myself with positive people who are supportive and disconnect from those who create a pessimistic energy.

United States of America’s Arizona Pageants – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
UNITED STATES of America PAGEANTS are designed to encourage women to strive to ACHIEVE their hopes, dreams, goals, and aspirations while making them feel CONFIDENT and BEAUTIFUL inside and out! We believe the true definition of beauty is “The unique set of combinations that make you, You!” Our motto is to EMPOWER Women, INSPIRE others, & UPLIFT everyone! We focus on women empowerment, promoting positive self-image and advocating a platform of community service, which allows our contestants to rise by lifting others. But more importantly, we are an elite sisterhood that gives support and encouragement to inspire each delegate to be the best version of herself!

The Arizona pageants have four divisions – Teen, Miss, Ms. and Mrs. Our titleholders are ages 13- 65+

As I mentioned, 50% of the scoring is based on the interview. Our titleholders are all shapes, sizes, and ethnicities–we love the diversity of our organization because we each have unique talents and skills to offer.

I am proud of the impact we make in our local communities. I am also proud of how we celebrate and support one another because that’s what this sisterhood is all about.

We are the fastest growing pageant in America and have been featured in Pageantry Magazine and Pageant Planet.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment has been being a role model for other moms. Giving them permission to do something for them allows them to demonstrate to their family and kids is that it’s okay to have your own identity. It’s rewarding to be able to go into the community and create initiatives or support non-profits to make the world a better place for everyone. Being a role model to others can inspire my kids to chase their dreams and stand up for things that are important to them.
