Meet Kelci Hunter of Vida Bella Med Spa & Weight Loss Center in The West Valley–Glendale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelci Hunter.

Kelci, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Growing up, I always wanted to be a nurse. I pursued that dream and graduated with my Bachelor’s in Science and Nursing from Millikin University in Illinois in 2010. My nursing career started in the Cardiac ICU, where I cared for open-heart surgery patients, and those with other serious cardiac illnesses. After a few years of bedside nursing, I decided to pursue my master’s degree in order to become a Nurse Practitioner. I graduated from Maryville University in St. Louis, MO in 2014 with my Master’s in Science and Nursing. My Nurse Practitioner career has taken me from employee health to community health and family practice, and into the specialty of aesthetic medicine. I have always had a passion for skincare and all things beauty, so this is the perfect fit for me. This role is still challenging and rewarding, and I enjoy helping my patients feel beautiful and more confident. I perform our Botox and dermal filler treatments, along with HCG weight loss clinic, while also carrying the role of Medical Director. My parents, Doug & Devona Haws are the owners of Vida Bella. Devona is also our aesthetician, specializing in micro-needling, including Secret RF Microneedling, and all aspects of skincare, including implementing our very own medical-grade skincare line. My brother and sister-in-law also play important roles within the practice. We pride ourselves on being a family business, and strive to help our patients feel comfortable, cared for, and right at home.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Within the medical field, there are many directions one can take. Finding the specialty that was the right fit for me had some challenges. After completing my Master’s Degree, I moved with my husband to Tennessee for him to pursue his dream career. While there, I worked in a rural community health clinic. I grew during my years there and became a more independent provider, but ultimately realized that community health and family medicine was not the best fit for me. After my husband graduated in 2017, we moved back to Illinois, then took a giant leap of faith by moving to Arizona only one year later. Moving away from “home” can create added challenges, but Arizona is feeling more like home each day. Ultimately, all of those challenges and experiences have led me to my perfect career.

Vida Bella Med Spa & Weight Loss Center – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Vida Bella Med Spa & Weight Loss Center specializes in Botox, dermal fillers, skin care services, Secret RF micro-needling, TruSculpt Body Contouring, HCG weight loss, and vitamin injections. We have recently expanded our services and are excited to offer the West Valley high-quality skin care treatments and weight loss services. As previously mentioned, we are a family business. Our entire family, including myself, parents, and brother & sister-in-law have a role in the business. We strive to make our patients feel comfortable, cared for, and right at home. We love developing relationships with each of our patients. We take the time to listen to each patient’s concerns and goals, then creating an individualized treatment plan that addresses the patient’s overall goals and budget.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I am most proud of being able to integrate my medical education and training with my creativity and aesthetic eye. Finding a career that you enjoy and find fun is rare, but though many roads led me here, I finally found it! I have spent many hours studying, training, and preparing for this career over the last decade, so enjoying it makes all of that effort worth it.
