Meet Kaylynn Lochinger of Chandler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaylynn Lochinger.

Hi Kaylynn, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into the realm of beauty began when I was in my teen years. I always have had a keen interest in makeup, and I loved to express my artistry through colorful, avant-garde makeup looks. As I learned about the beauty industry, I found skincare and became obsessed with learning the ins and outs of different products. I wanted to understand how I could clear my own skin, as I had struggled with it for years. Between the endless medication trials, birth control, and harsh topicals, I saw no end in sight, so I took it into my own hands. I educated myself with the resources I had, and learned how to care for my skin properly. This alone didn’t clear my acne, but it helped me understand more and build resiliency. I’m a self-starter, so once I entered Esthetican school, having this prior knowledge was imperative to my growth. I was able to get through school fairly easily, and I meticulously chose Penrose Academy to get me where I needed to be. In school, I learned about Face Reality Skincare’s acne specialist program, and I made it my goal to become a specialist and help those who have gone through similar struggles with their skin. I’ve never been one to follow a standard path, so I decided to open KayBeauty within months of graduating and receiving my license — no client base, no perfectly curated plan, just the passion to help others with their skin, a category in which I felt I personally couldn’t be helped. After one year of being in business, I became an acne specialist, cleared my own skin with the combination of my new and prior education, and I’ve been helping others through their acne journeys ever since. It’s a committed process, and the clients I work with become good friends as it’s more than just skincare, it’s a mental and physical experience as well. It’s a journey of confidence and consistency to better yourself. It’s managing stress, taking care of your body and your soul. Currently, I’m getting back into my artistic roots and creating art alongside my business, putting myself out there and expressing my creativity that I forgot about along the path of being so business-oriented. I’m enjoying having my dreams being put into reality, and excited to see what life brings me as I move forward with embodying my full self and inspiring my friends, clients and family along the way.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a business with no client base has never been the standard way; so, realistically I chose the more difficult path. I knew going into this that I wanted my own business and I didn’t allow anyone to tell me how, I can be stubborn in that way. Even if there is a “right” way, I will always choose to do it “my way”. With that, come the struggles of any business, and opening during the depths of 2020 was challenging. I was forced to close within just a month of being open due to the pandemic, but I used that time to further gain education. as there were many webinars happening during that time, so I took advantage of it. I’m the type of person that even if it may seem I’m doing nothing, there’s always something brewing, I’m always feeding information into my mind and bettering myself to my best ability. Along side that, I’ve dealt with numerous mental health issues throughout the span of my life, which is an ongoing journey. I had experienced some of the worst of it within the first three years of my business being open. I had to look within and choose myself over having two jobs and a business, because I ultimately ran myself into burnout. In that time, I learned that I’m neurodivergent, and I was easily over-extending myself for a long period of time. Now that I understand this, I can see the difference and plan accordingly to take the best care of myself to then care for my clients in the best way as well.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in acne care and skin health in general. I’m known for clearing my client’s skin within a 3-6 month period, creating fully customized skincare rituals and for having fun, colorful hair. I express myself creatively through my appearance, through writing and with fashion. I think having an approach to life with more of a child-like sense of wonder sets me apart from the norm; as I’m optimistic, loving and learning to take up as much space as I need without caring how others perceive me. I take time to enjoy everything around me and try not to take everything personally, as I just want to be happy and for those around me to feel joy too.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I’m so grateful for this opportunity to share my story with your readers, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me. I am open to any business and artistic opportunities, and I hope to inspire others to follow their dreams and never stop learning and trying.
