Meet Kaylee Aliory of Party Like a Pineapple in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaylee Aliory.

Kaylee, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Hi! I’m Kaylee, I’m 21 years old and the owner and creator of Party Like a Pineapple!! About three years ago my cousin talked me into buying a Silhouette machine, for those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s a god send for anyone who likes to craft as it cuts anything you want. This machine sat in my house for about a year not being used, until one day I gave it a shot. I started playing with different materials and found my niche, working with paper. There is was, Party Like a Pineapple, handmade modern party supplies was born. Fast forward to now, I have a full blown business that I am so beyond proud to have. It’s taught me personal skills, got me into marketing and business further leading me to what I want to get my college degree in, and so so so much more. But most importantly, it’s my passion. Party Like a Pineapple is the thing that makes me want to come home from working a full time job and make my ideas come to life. It is true that when you make a sale, you do, do a little dance. To think of where I was a year and a half ago with this business to now, only makes me more excited to grow.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I, like many others, have been down the bumpy road of creating a business. Figuring out what will sell, how to take pictures for listings and even down to the biggest worry, am I going to even sell anything at all? All of the struggles that I’ve had to overcome, made my business what it is today. I never gave up, even when other people told me it was a waste of time. Creating this business at such a young age taught me to just go for it, take the leap, follow your passion, do whatever it takes and never give up on yourself.

Please tell us about your business.
Party Like a Pineapple specializes in handmade, modern party supplies. Every single product is unique, nothing like the generic party supplies you would get from a big box store, making every event special. We create memorable items such as banners, cake toppers, paper straws, and much more. Our goal is to make every event just as unique as the individual being celebrated.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood has to be the craft table at my grandparent’s house. During the summer while my parents were at work, my cousins, my sister and I would all go to my grandparent’s house to spend the day there. In what we call the “Arizona room” my grandpa made us a table for all our crafts. He cut holes into the table to hold our cups of water when we paint and made us custom shelves to hold all the supplies. I loved and still love that craft table. We learned how to sew with our little Barbie sewing machine, how to use acrylic paint and most importantly, how to create. Someday, my children will experience the same thing we did on that table.
