Meet Kayla Coleman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Coleman.

Kayla, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always had a passion for food, cooking and the connection it brings when people gather for food. Starting an Instagram page about food felt natural to me. I only started recently, thanks to the advice of a few people that are very close to me. For a while, I was very hesitant in starting this venture, as I was worried I could not find the time or energy to keep up with it. Currently, I work and I am going to school to be an esthetician. I did not think I would have the right amount of time to take care of three Instagram pages. I have my account, esthetician account and my foodie account.

Back in late 2018, I lost my late husband to stomach cancer. This taught me to live life as it is my last day and one of the many reasons I decided to pursue creating the account. My goal of this venture is to spread the word that queen creek, san tan valley and the surrounding areas have a diverse selection of amazing food and culture just waiting to be explored. I want people to get out of their comfort zones and try something new and interesting!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
So far, the road has been a little bumpy. It is very hard to find time to go out and eat places I’ve never been to before when I have work and I have to study. Luckily for me, I have school in Tempe and can branch out there when I can. Living in Queen Creek/San Tan Valley has its advantages and disadvantages. One disadvantage is that we are a little far from most of the well-known places in the valley.

Please tell us about your work.
I have a foodie page on Instagram! I specialize in food photography. Mainly using my iPhone 8 as my camera! I try my best to use my past in photography to help me compose great shots for the page. I haven’t seen many foodies in my area, so I believe that sets me apart.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think my passion has been very important to my success. Without my passion, the page would be nowhere.
