Meet Katie Western and Meghan McAnally of West Alley Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Western and Meghan McAnally.

Katie and Meghan, please share your story with us. 
We both attended Grand Canyon University. Meghan has a business background and owns and operates her own Landscaping company, Terra Sole Outdoor Designs in Prescott, Arizona. Katie has a background in marketing, promotions, advertising and public relations. Our different backgrounds, skill sets, and our love for fashion created the perfect business partnership and through it West Alley Boutique was born. Our business started as a clothing boutique but we are slowly evolving it to be more. Our goal is to offer clothing that will help our community of women feel confident and beautiful in their own skin so they will be empowered to be bold in their everyday lives.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We are so lucky. We’ve truly had amazing support and we’ve grown an incredible relationship with our customers. Having an online boutique can be difficult because social media is always changing. Facebook and Instagram constantly update their algorithms and that has really negatively affected businesses. We have to constantly be on our toes, reinvent ourselves and try to find new ways to reach and engage our audience.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about West Alley Boutique – what should we know?
We wanted to create a boutique that encourages women to feel bold, confident and beautiful no matter what stage of life they are in. We hand select clothing that will help women feel beautiful and gives them the confidence they need to tackle any obstacle they encounter. We didn’t want to stop at just empowering women we wanted to also help support women entrepreneurs. So we have set up the West Alley Business Grant to support women as they set out on the journey of starting their own business. A portion of proceeds of every sale at West Alley goes towards the grant and every year on West Alley’s anniversary we award the grant. We don’t just want to sell clothing but we want to help promote women in every aspect because we are truly unstoppable.

We are a tribe of like-minded women who empower and engage with other women to help them feel bold and beautiful in their skin regardless of their size. Our clothing is versatile you can dress it up or down which is perfect for women on-the-go. We also carry some of the same brands sold at large department stores but offer them at a lower price point. For women seeking a luxurious style we also carry exclusive lines of luxury clothing that are created by designers in Europe but made in the USA. The most important aspect of West Alley we would like our customers to know is that you are shopping for a cause and not just spending money on clothing. You are actually making women entrepreneur’s dreams become a reality by supporting the West Alley Business Grant.

We are also really excited out the new launch of our App available in the Apple App store. We are one of the few small online boutiques with an App and it was created to help our customers have an effortless and easy shopping experience.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Our desire to bring positive changes for all women is the most important characteristic for us. It’s what gets us up in the morning and is the sole reason we love what we do. Helping women feel beautiful and empowering them in their everyday lives is an honor and a privilege.
