Today we’d like to introduce you to Katelyn Traluch.
Hi, Katelyn; thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstory.
I want to say that ever since I came out of the womb, I have known I wanted to be an actress. I was acting on stage starting at 3 and felt most comfortable performing. Growing up, I never strayed from this career; it was and has always been acting from day one. During my time from K-12, I was involved in any play, musical, or acting opportunity I could find. It was my comfort zone and where I felt safe to be. The feeling I got from acting in these years proved to me repeatedly that nothing like this brought me such happiness as performing did. I knew this feeling was what I wanted for the rest of my life. Fast forward to 2020, I graduated high school and moved from Missouri to Arizona to get a degree in Theatre with a Concentration in Acting. I will graduate from ASU with my degree in May of this year, and I couldn’t be more excited. In my time here in Tempe, I have had the opportunity to grow in the entertainment industry in ways I am so grateful for. I have grown in my acting and influencing/social media careers in the past four years. I have the opportunity to work with brands such as Samsung and Warner Bros with social media to working on a Paramount film & student films for my acting career. I will be furthering my career and moving to Los Angeles in August. I will be a local hire in LA, Phoenix, and St. Louis at that time. My biggest motivator is the reminder of preschool me; she wanted this life so passionately, and I want to make little Katelyn proud.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Pursuing a career in acting is a challenging road. From the comments I have received from others about how difficult it is to make it in this industry, the abundance of drive you have to have through all the ‘no’s’ is hard. I struggle with all the ‘no’s’ an actor receives compared to the ‘yes’s.’ They say the average actor has 64 ‘no’s’ before they get a yes. That takes a lot out of a person, and you must be confident in yourself and your talent to continue. I am blessed to have a great support system and two very supportive parents. To me, all the ‘no’s’ means I’m that much closer to my next yes, and when those moments come, they feel like a million bucks. I look forward to those moments, which keeps me going. While there are a lot of obstacles in this career, I look forward to this journey with a lot of drive and excitement for what comes next.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an actress and a social media influencer in the entertainment industry. There are so many outlets to express your creativity, making this job fun. Four years ago, I began working in social media and found it a fun new way to be a part of the entertainment world. I have had the pleasure of working with brands such as Warner Bros, Panera, Walmart, and Samsung, which have taught me so much. I have always loved creating content on social media, and I even had a YouTube channel that I posted back in middle school. My love for creating content has always been inside of me, and I’ve had a blast learning about and exploring this career. It’s helped me with my acting career in ways I never saw coming and has taught me that having your foot in entertainment can always unlock doors in other areas of this entertainment industry. I love content creation and can’t wait to see what the future holds for me next!
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My parents deserve the most credit. Their unwavering support throughout my entire life has been more than I could have ever asked for. I am so grateful for the love they have shown me and their belief in my career. Having their support in my life during this career has helped lift me when I am feeling down, and they are always my biggest cheerleaders in any play, musical, acting gig, or performance I have. They always had the biggest smile when I was doing what I loved, which was worth more than anything else.
