Meet Kaitlyn Wheelihan of Tucson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlyn Wheelihan

Hi Kaitlyn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As soon as I decided to attend the University of Arizona, I knew I wanted to be apart of the vibrant Greek Life community, one of the best in the country. What I didn’t realize at the time was how greatly this decision would shape my college experience and personal growth.

I remember the excitement of Bid Day vividly. When I opened my bid card and saw “Alpha Chi Omega,” I’ll admit it wasn’t my first choice going into recruitment. But as everyone always says, you end up exactly where you’re meant to be—and they were absolutely right. From the moment I stepped into the chapter, I felt a sense of belonging and inspiration that’s still hard to put into words.

My first role in the chapter my freshman year was running our Instagram account. I loved getting to express my creativity while showcasing my sisters and our chapter’s values and achievements. That experience sparked a desire to take on even more leadership roles, and I was honored to be elected as Vice President of PR & Marketing that next year. I then had the privilege of serving as Chapter President, which has been one of the most rewarding and humbling experiences of my life.

Looking back now as I begin my last semester, I couldn’t imagine calling anywhere else home. Alpha Chi Omega has given me lifelong friendships, leadership opportunities, and memories I will treasure forever.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With every great experience comes its share of bumps and unforeseen struggles, but I’ve always believed that the hard times shape us into stronger and more resilient individuals. My journey in Alpha Chi Omega has been no exception.
Overseeing and keeping nearly 400 college women happy, connected, and engaged is no easy task—at times, it felt almost impossible. Balancing diverse personalities, expectations, and needs of such a large group tested my patience, adaptability, and leadership skills all in unique ways. There were many moments when unexpected challenges and unmet commitments arose but all those situations, while difficult taught me the importance of communication, empathy, and leading with integrity.
I humorously believe that anyone can do anything after being president of a sorority.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m currently a senior at the University of Arizona, preparing to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Care, Health & Society and a minor in Psychology. Throughout my college journey, I’ve been deeply involved in Alpha Chi Omega, dedicating all four years to this incredible sisterhood.

Serving in the various leadership roles has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my college experience. I’m particularly proud of the growth I’ve witnessed within our chapter during my time. From undergoing a full house renovation to welcoming an increasing number of outstanding members each year, raising over $40,000 for Domestic Violence Awareness, it’s been incredible to see how our chapter has flourished and it will always be an honor to look back and know I played a part in making that happen. These experiences have not only strengthened our chapter but have also shaped me into a more confident, compassionate, and driven leader.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Within the next 5-10 years, I am confident that the Beta Lambda chapter of Alpha Chi Omega will continue to thrive and grow in every way. From recruiting even more incredible members to strengthening the bonds of sisterhood, I see our chapter setting new standards of excellence.

Our dedication to philanthropy, especially our work supporting Domestic Violence Awareness, will undoubtedly expand as well. I envision us raising even more funds, increasing awareness, and making an even greater impact in our community and on campus. The foundation we’ve built over the past few years has set the stage for continued success, and I can’t wait to see how future members build on that legacy.

Alpha Chi Omega has always been about fostering personal growth, leadership, and meaningful connections, and I know that those values will only deepen as the chapter evolves.
