Today we’d like to introduce you to Kadijatu Grace Ahene.

Kadijatu, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am Dr. Kadijatu Grace Ahene woman on a mission to amplify the significance of creativity. I know this because the gift of creativity has helped me pull through some of the lowest experiences of my life. From hair braiding to singing to acting to petty trading, from writing to speaking. My history of creative work is literarily endless. I believe this can be true for so many more people with the right support.

Dija’s Touch started from a place of dissatisfaction I go in the stores can’t find me my cultural nor something that represents my story. Coming to the States as a refugee going through life’s journey with no identity I had to tell my story through our beautiful and colorful African Ankara fabric from my birth country Sierra Leone a land of love and natural tourism sight.

My brand Dija’s Touch was birth from a place of dissatisfaction. I desired more. I desired to build a brand that lives on. A brand that is more than words, a brand that keeps on evolving, a brand that keeps on impacting through fashion trends, colors and patterns using African Ankara fabric. From being homeless now Dijastouch.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth ride I struggled with being a mom of three beautiful girls no job to finance my business but I kept pushing through it all GOD HAS GIVEN ME A WINDOW.

Please tell us about your business.
Dija’s Touch Collection an upscale women’s fashion that will open in July this year. Dija Touch which means “the hatched eagle” and its essence of inclusion. Dija’s Touch selections and exclusive personal style services, which include a detailed Style Assessment, will ensure that our customers are well dressed. Dija’s Touch is a woman owned business currently organized as a Sole Proprietorship. Unique & innovative.

Dija’s Touch will provide services such as Style Assessments, sneakers made with African Ankara fabric, handbags, African jewelry, we are also specialized in using recycled materials for our designs we will be available to customers on a daily basis. Dija’s innovative Style Assessments and educational emphasis on helping women develop their styles will enhance our reputation as a truly unique brand. 25% of our proceeds go to charity in my place of birth west Africa Sierra Leone.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I was and still is the entertainer I will say I was one of those birth with 10 talent lol I was a dancer, singer and comedian had a great sense of style.
