Meet Kaden (Mindwarp Art)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaden (Mindwarp Art).

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona. Lived here my whole life (22 years). Growing up I always watched my dad draw and paint, and I think that’s where my passion for art and creating kind of started. I’ve always been into art/drawing, but I never really stuck with it. It was always something I’d just do if I was bored or had nothing to do as a kid. Once I got into high school though, I definitely got more into it. But it probably wasn’t till I was 20 until I realized that it was something I wanted to pursue as a career.

Please tell us about your art.
Most of my art is drawn in pen & ink, once I first tried pens I knew that I loved it. But some of my pieces I do pull into illustrator and color digitally, or make psychedelic effects. I like to draw all sorts of things; trees, flowers, mandalas, portraits, anything with lots of detail and line work. I also draw lots of fan art, I like to incorporate my designs into characters of video games/movies etc. that I admire or appreciate. I just hope people enjoy what I create, whether that be my usual trippy line art or my fan art. I enjoy bonding and conversing with people who also have the same loves and interests as me.

What do you think about conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
Well to be honest, I don’t know what it was like to be an artist 20-100+ years ago, but I can only imagine it being harder then than it is now. Now we have the internet and social media, which is and should be an artists’ best friend in this day and age. But since almost everyone now has the internet, it’s very easy for the market to become oversaturated. Life as an artist can be brutal, I kind of imagine it like being a musician. There are lots of people who want to be artists/musicians, you have to work hard and stick out from the crowd. I also think just being a “Good Artist” doesn’t mean you’re going to be successful. Just like I’m sure there are many talented bands and musicians who haven’t found their success. Arizona seems to have a pretty good “Art Scene” from what I’ve seen, but I definitely think it could be better. I wish there was more weekly events for artists and vendors to set up and show off their craft. There may be and I’m just oblivious to it lol.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I post pretty frequently on my Instagram. I also have an etsy shop, where people can purchase prints, stickers, and pins (Mindwarp Art).
