Meet Justn Ladd of Arizona Defined

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justn Ladd.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Justn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I got started by wanting to prove to myself I had a good idea that would actually sell. That idea was selling apparel (t-shirts and tanks at the moment). The business started last year and has been primarily online. This year we plan on setting up at some farmers markets as well as a few festivals.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been simple but not easy. The biggest struggle is finding the proper amount of time to dedicated to the business (I have a full-time job that requires a fair amount of travel).

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Arizona Defined story. Tell us more about the business.
Arizona Defined sells clothing that is inspired by people, places, and things that help define Arizona. Our first series of shirts featured “The 5 C’s of Arizona” Cattle, Citrus, Climate, Copper, and Cotton. I am proud that the products have been well received and also highlight what helped form AZ today and continue to make it great place to live. The next theme will be released soon.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
In life it certainly has played a role. Although there were times when I thought I had bad luck but it actually turned out to be good and vice versa. As far as the business goes, I think the biggest role luck has played is I am lucky I have a fair amount of friends and family I can bounce ideas off of and get free feedback/support.
