Meet Justin Helsley – Creator of Straight 928 in Kingman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Helsley.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Justin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We started as a group of friends who wanted to make ourselves unique t-shirts. With a history of years of faithfully using “928” as an online video game clan tag, we decided to name our company after the area code that spans most of our state. It started as brainstorming unintentionally, and turned into making parody logos of our Arizona sports teams, then original designs, then finally making mock-ups of some of these designs on t-shirts. After showing off some designs on IG, we had a good response and decided to take the next step into getting our first line of shirts printed. Our first line of graphic tees was released in April 2019. As of today, we are setting up our own space to print our merch and we cannot wait to show off more ideas. We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There are always struggles when getting into something that is brand new. We had to overcome the normal financial struggles and the struggle of making decisions about when to take the next step. We have a long way to go and are ready for the next hurdle that comes our way.

How do you define success?
Success is being happy with where you are or what you have done, no matter where or what that is.
