Meet Julie Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Wilson.

Julie, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In April 2016, I was working for a CPA firm and just finished my 9th long stressful tax season and a friend asked if I could do a paint party. Instantly after that party, I fell in love and surprisingly it snowballed and I received so many inquiries about doing paint parties for others. After a few years of teaching paint parties and working full time at the CPA firm, I realized that God had new plans for me. I finished my last tax season this April 2019 and now I do paint parties full time!

Has it been a smooth road?
It was a struggle for me trying to work full time at the CPA firm, managing my growing paint party business, while being a mom and wife, especially during tax season. Last year is when I resigned from the firm and it allowed me to take back control of my schedule, to become more available for my family and focus on my paint party business.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am Julie Wilson, founder of Paint Parties by Julie, a fully mobile entertainment paint party business where I travel to people’s homes, church, school, office, or their venue of choice and teach them how to make fun & crafty art with acrylic paint on canvas. I offer paint parties for kids and adults for any occasion. Your paint party can be customized from painting any of your favorite characters, animals, landscapes, paint your pet, to pretty much anything you can imagine I can make it happen. My clients gets to choose what they want to paint and the great thing about my paint parties is that not everyone has to paint the same thing if they don’t want to.

I love sharing my passion for art with others and have made so many new friends along the way at my paint parties. To me it is so much more than just painting, it’s about providing a fun experience and a safe environment for others to decompress and get away from their stress or whatever they are dealing with, watching everyone get together to enjoy their time with friends and family to build a long-lasting memory, and the confidence that everyone gains at the end of the paint party.

Paint Parties by Julie is known for the trendy themed paint parties which I do offer to the public one to two times a month at some restaurants and bars around the valley. My public events typically sell out quickly and do require advance registration.

My glow-in-the-dark paint parties are also one of my popular choices where we make art in a different light and everyone paints in the dark bringing their canvas to life under the black light with glow in the dark paint.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I believe so, painting is therapeutic, great entertainment, and can be done anywhere. Anyone can paint you just have to trust the process.
