Meet Julie Romanenko of Just Jules Jewelry in North Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Romanenko.

Julie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My Grandmother loved jewelry, I mean loved it..and placed a huge amount of sentimental importance to it. She passed this love down to her daughters and granddaughters. Pair this with the fact that I was a very creative child….and a jewelry designer is created!!!!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Are you kidding? No. I first encountered not much support from my family and had to convince them I was going to be successful. I had little to no business background. My business plan was that I made pretty things, why not sell them..not much of a plan. I had to navigate how to choose what trade shows to do, and how to do them. I had some bad experiences with reps, who took advantage of my naivete. But, I did get some great advice from some great people in the jewelry industry and I eventually found my way.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Just Jules Jewelry – what should we know?
I design fine jewelry with a very vintage, Art Deco feel. I use only precious metals and gemstones and am obsessed with all things sparkly! I am most proud of the fact that I am creating “future heirlooms”…jewelry that women treasure and will pass down for generations. My designs lean toward the delicate and dainty, meant to be worn layered, with other Just Jules pieces or with the jewelry a woman already wears. I think what really sets me apart is how I am able to marry old and new, taking vintage elements and making them new and relevant. A woman might love the jewelry her grandmother wore but she wants it to feel like it represents her in her time.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My brand means everything to me and I strive to have it untarnished. I create beautiful pieces of jewelry that are made to be worn for generations. I am a perfectionist in how I run my business as well, and I treat all my customers the way I like to be treated, with honesty and respect.
