Meet Julie Franklin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Franklin.

Julie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Growing up in England, I always wanted to study art and be a dancer. Now, as an artist in America, it was really a natural progression that I should end up here. As any other artist/creative can tell you, it can sometimes be difficult to stick to one kind of medium with all the other shiny objects out there! So I’ve literally done a bit of everything. I studied art and photography. I’ve taught art classes, ballet classes, gardening and cooking classes. I’ve owned a restaurant, been a model. I’ve done sewing, sculpting, interior design, landscape design, painting and drawing and loved them all.

Now I’ve returned back to the beginning, back to photography with many more skills and knowledge in my pocket and with the same desire to be one hundred percent creative but this time in such a way that helps more people on a greater scale and that has an impact. And what’s great is that I have a wide variety of clients as no two businesses are alike… no more shiny objects!

Has it been a smooth road?
I actually would say it’s been a fairly smooth road. It, of course, is always challenging starting up your own business and getting your name out there as well as having all your ducks in a row all at the same time, but definitely worth it in the end.

I would say my greatest struggle was finding my ideal client and then educating them on what I do, but once I tapped into my vegan lifestyle, it became pretty clear who my ideal client is and once I had established that, marketing and making connections also became much easier and now I actually enjoy making connections.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
Ok, so what I do is called “Personal Brand Photography,” and that is commercial photography. In a nutshell all the photographs I take are customized specifically to your brand and come with a commercial use license so you can use them on all the platforms where you do business to make money.

When working with me on a quarterly basis, we will have an in-depth planning and strategy session so I can get to know you and your brand, plan out your next quarter’s stories and images and a one day shoot that will provide you with three months worth of content in just one day! You can then schedule out your content and you will be done till next quarter. It’s a true time and money saver. If you just need a website refresh, product shots, or styled food photography I’ve got you covered there too.

I specialize in customized service, branding and storytelling so you can make connections with your audience. They will connect with you through your images and get to know you and your brand and ultimately engage and buy from you. I am proud to be a vegan company that supports other vegan, green lifestyle and sustainable companies that want to make an impact for the greater good. It is very important to me that my creativity has a positive impact for both my clients, their customers, the animals and the world.

What sets me apart from others? Is that I have a lot of skills and insight from my art training that others may not have as well as insights into other businesses and modeling and knowing what it feels like to be in front of the camera. I also take great care to establish who you are as a business and what you stand for and together, we will come up with a plan that is completely convenient for you.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
If you have the right mindset, a big dose of motivation, coupled with a great idea, then I’d say yes, Tucson is a great place to start a business. There is a lot of support here.
